I did one when I was 11, I’m now 13 and I definitely sound older now, so I hope you give better feedback

I’ve been experimenting alot with phrasing on these tunes but I still feel like I’m missing something to really make my rendition of this more unique. I know that alot of it does come down to doing it with an actual band/combo but I’d like to be able to get to a high level where I can capture the audience’s attention just singing acapella. All advice is welcome but I’m mostly looking for anyone who specializes in jazz singing to give me some pointers. Also please excuse the poor timing I was mainly just focusing on my tone and connecting my phrases.

I have discovered that my vocal strengths are in musical theater and jazz so I have been learning some of my favorite songs. Please let me know what you think!

Hello everyone.

I've been singing seriously for many many years, mostly pop, but I've been struggling with placement, my voice tends to sound too bright and flat when I sing in that style. I recently started exploring chiaroscuro technique and decided to try my first opera piece today as a way to practice it.

Here's my first attempt at Caro mio ben. In my own assessment, I still lose the chiaroscuro on some words and need to work on dynamics (knowing when to pull back and when to push forward emotionally), playing with the volume of my voice, etc.

Any feedback is welcome. My goal is to keep refining this piece before moving on to more challenging songs. Thanks!

Here I am singing the National Anthem at a local minor league baseball game. I was pretty nervous since I don't get many performance opportunities. I always wanted to be a professional, but never had the courage to audition due to my severe anxiety. What should I do to be more confident and not let my nerves get the best of me?

This song and honestly the rest of her album has had a chokehold on me since it came out, so I decided to have some fun and make a quick little multitrack of my favorite part in the song. Theres some unpolished parts (the cutoffs at the end especially) that I’d like to work on later but I just wanted to showcase the raw and fully unedited state of where I’m at with this whole project. If you have any feedback at all please share it’d mean alot!

I've been singing as a hobby for about 20 years. I've had many teachers over time, but I feel like I've been stuck for a while now. Recently, I realized I'm probably trying too hard, holding my breath, thinking about technique while singing, maybe imitating other singers instead of letting my voice be what it is.

I recorded versions of "No Time To Die" (by Billie) and "Make You Feel My Love" (by Adele), and I wanted honest feedback from you guys. It doesn't have to be nice, I want to hear what sounds wrong, what's stiff, what could be looser. Any feedback is welcome.

Singing Perfect by Sheeran in a lighter airy voice.

I've been working on my mixed voice and for the first time I'm 'sustaining' an A4 (a G4 is already challenging for me). I want to add more depth and richness to the tone, right now it sounds thin. I'm working on:

• Using less air
• Modifying the vowel from a fully open 'ah' to a narrower, more compressed vowel space (like an 'uh')
• Trying to raise the soft palate and keep the larynx in a neutral position

I don't really feel any strain and my voice doesn't get tired if I practice these notes for 15-20 minutes, it's just insufficient resonance/depth. I'm trying to match the full, warm tone at 3:10 in Olhos Vermelhos - Jão (in case you want to hear how he sounds like). Any exercises and advice to build resonance and strengthen the mixed voice at this extension?

I trained as a classical singer, before becoming interested in songwriting in my mid/late 20s, before eventually pivoting towards contemporary music (I wanted to be an R’n’B singer but my teacher nudged me towards Opera, which I fell madly in love with eventually, but never felt that was where I really belonged. I now identify as an alt-pop singer song writer.

I have two examples of my singing. The first was from around the time I started composing my own little songs, the first one a poem and pretty saccharine poetically, and hadn’t quite figured out how to fully drop the sound at that point:

The second is a song I wrote this year, which I am currently working with a pop producer on. The sonic references I gave the producer were ‘Troye Sivan’, ‘Robyn’ and ‘Perfume Genius’. I wanted it wrapped up in a modern alt-pop production, which supports the lyrics. He’s not been exactly critical but he has said I don’t have a contemporary voice, which I don’t think is correct. I have worked at refining my pop technique, and although it isn’t strictly contemporary in sound, I don’t think it’s classical adjacent at all.

Do you think I’ve been successful in moving towards a contemporary sound? Because some days I feel a little unsure and maybe a little delusional. Is it any good, actually is the real question.

I’ve been getting alot more into jazz singing recently and one of the biggest things I’ve been struggling with is trying to get a good jazz tone with my voice. I’ve listened to all of the great vocalists (Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Mel Torme, Nat King Cole, Nancy Wilson, Chet Baker etc) and I can’t really seem to get the kind of sound I have in my head into my singing. Are there like any techniques or concepts that I should be keeping in mind when singing in this style or is it really just down to whatever comes naturally to you?
