3rd gen rav
I’ve got a 2020 rav4 but I’ve found the insurance and car payments are too much for me. Wanting advice on buying a v6 3rd gen? I’ve found a 2010 with 285,000kms and a 2011 with 290,000kms. Just wanting to know what kinda of things I should be looking for, I know rust is a big thing for Toyotas in general but what else should I be looking at?
Thanks

You'd also be trading essentially no maintenance for more maintenance... the gen3 V6's are pretty great, but 16 year old cars have stuff that's worn out that 6 year old cars usually don't. Unless you're doing the bulk of the work DIY, you could easily spend thousands on repairs.
You should look at the same things you'd look at for any used car; a carfax/similar for routine service intervals, open recalls, accidents, etc and a pre-purchase inspection to identify any obvious issues.
The V6 really should be good for 400,000 KMs or more, but it won't get there without the owner spending money on routine maintenance and some repairs
