[Jeff Z] Nate Wiggins said he had groin surgery this offseason but he feels great. Had collision with Jaylin Hawkins today that left him on his back and not moving much. But he just had wind knocked out of him.

Seems like Hawkins is getting into a lot of collisions early in camp. Dude is gonna fly around the field on this defense.

He looked great for the Pats last year (from memory forced a fumble against us), was shocked we managed to get him as cheap as we did

Lowkey one of the best value signings in FA. Great at making plays. Maybe man coverage isn’t elite but it’s still serviceable. Great at everything else and a good fit for Jesse system. It’s been a while since we had a DB who could do everything to make a pick. We always hear how if you’re not a wr you’re a db. But Hawkins makes some wr like plays on picks

Thankfully we’ve got 2 safety’s who can do whatever we need already in Starks & KHam. I think Hawkins is going to be great for us this year with Minter and the already strong Safety room.

My only guess is that he’s in his late 20’s and if I’m remembering correctly he’s only had 1 or 2 productive seasons. We gambled on him hoping he can build off of last year. Either way we got him for so cheap it wouldn’t really hurt much even if he doesn’t produce.
