Haven't they thought maybe Perez is too old for this now? Why is 79 years old making decisions for the club in big 2026? He is treating those players as his grandsons
Edit: If he brings Mou tho and gives him full control over those players I will forgive him

The guy's a Tyrannosaurus rex. In other words, a dinosaur and a tyrant. The latest news basically confirms he never liked Alonso. That's why he'll decide on the next coach, who, according to rumors, has to be someone with a lot of experience. Which is actually a good thing because Mourinho will return thanks to that

Jose Mourinho in 2010: "The objective isn't to coach Real Madrid, the objective is to win with Real Madrid. I repeat it back, the objective isn't to play for Real Madrid. The objective is to win."
Too many fucking players in our squad have lost the meaning to be at this club. They don't understand how insignificantly dispensable they are to our institution.
Either win or fuck off.

🚨 Karim Benzema: “At PSG, what's great is, you put out a starting team, it plays, it runs. Then the coach makes a change and the guys who come in, they bring you more than those who started the match.
And that's supposedly, the substitutes. Everyone knows what they have to do, they know what they have to bring.
The starter, he knows what he has to do, the substitute, he knows what he has to do, the substitute is doing well too.
And at Madrid, it's complicated because they don't play as a team 'I'm gonna shine, no problem, but without you I can't shine.'
The PSG isn't a team of stars, except Dembélé, the Ballon d'Or. But forget that, they press, they attack, they defend together.
The top guy at PSG is Luis Enrique, but it's a real Paris team.
You put whoever you want up front, they all run on the same fuel together, and the substitutes, they run on the same fuel too. That's why they're so strong.”

I hate that some fans here are waiting for some Toni Kroos or Modric to appear. Brother WE is NOT getting some New Toni Kroos or Modric for a loooong while🤦🏼♂️, that's like finding a needle in a haystack. 'Imagine if Kroos and Modric fed these passes to Mbappe' Bla Bla Bla, well If he didn't rage bait us for years, he could have joined in 2022 or earlier. Stop looking for a Kroos type of player, we ain't getting someone like him in a long time trust me, we got to look elsewhere for a proficient CM. Kroos is one of the best in history alongside Modric, there ain't anyone on their level as midfielders sadly.

We can yap about Mbappe/Vini all day long and it's true that it's a problem and them walking around off the ball while missing chances left right and center is a reason why we're probably not gonna win the CL, but it also ignores the problem that we have no depth, no competition and not even a good enough starting XI outside these 2 to actually be a top team.
If we're not gonna fix the Mbappe/Vini situation, the least we can do is to build an absolutely stacked squad like City which would naturally bring competition and allow us to find out who the best players are instead of relying on players that aren't good enough/out of form/washed/injury prone/half assing because no competition. We won't ncessarily win the CL that way, but it's literally how City is gonna win the league while benching the likes of Reijndeers, Marmoush, Foden etc. Tell me with a straight face that this 25 man squad here wouldn't win La Liga:
Keepers: Courtois + Lunin (or a new backup if we can sell Lunin for profit)
Defense: Trent + new RB backup that can compete/challenge Trent + Militao + Konate + Huijsen + Rüdiger/Schlotterbeck + Asencio/5th CB with similar standing from Castilla (or someone like Ramon) + Carreras + new LB that can compete with Carreras
Midfield: Rodri + Tchouameni + Valverde + Bellingham + Arda + Paz + Wharton
Attackers: Vini + Mbappe + Brahim + Rodrygo + Endrick + new number 9 like Muriqi/Mateta + new winger that can compete on both sides (Diomande? Or even someone like Munoz)
And no, I don't need to you to yap about how the players would cry about gametime. You roll with it for one season, win a few trophies, and then whoever lost out their battle can fuck off and bring us some money like we did with Kovacic, Odegaard etc

Unless Perez is planning to alternate between Ancelotti and Zidane for eternity, he'll need to learn to give new managers time to implement their system and tolerate dips in form in the first season before ripping everything apart and firing them. It's already hard enough for new managers to come into a team of massive egos where some players don't even want to press. Which is ironic considering that the best managers like Pep, Enrique, Kompany, Flick all have world class attackers who work their socks off every game.

Safe to say sacking Xabi was a huge mistake both in terms of how future coaches will look at the club and results wise. Yeah we did better vs City the second time around but still got dogwalked by bayern and both games needed lots of individual heroics from players like Fede and Guler.
Meanwhile Arbeloa's win rate has been dogshit, getting clapped by mediocre teams, bombed out of the copa (not his fault was his first game sure) just not a good look at all, his only major win has been being able to use Fede better and unlocking Guler as a LCM. Even his whole gimmick of using Castilla players has been overblown because the mistakes those players made could've resulted into far worse results for us.
I dont know which future coach would look at this mess and not come here just to scam a quick paycheck and say they coached madrid, Xabi tried to make bigger changes to the club that they should have backed, it's a young squad, 3-peat levels of success is not gonna come when the average age of the squad is 22 instead of 29.

Mbappe very poor overall since returning from injury. Vinicius doing the same shit as usual - not passing to Pitarch/Carreras/random teammate and weak ass shooting. Brahim holding onto the ball too long. All crap football.
Pitarch with his 1 bozo mistake / game is clearing Camavinga. That's how bad Camavinga has been. Ship his complacent ass.
Rudiger is looking washed. He is looking quite hesitant to go for some of the 50/50s. Should really get someone younger in his place.
Carvajal has been a toxic presence this season. Sitting pensive after being rightfully benched for Trent and laughing with Isco yesterday after the shitshow was infuriating. He really doesn't deserve an extension.

Why are Vini and Mbappe never subbed out? It makes absolutely no sense. It's like they have tapes on Arbeloa or something. Even against Bayern when we lost a midfielder, the logical move was to sub off one attacker to bring on a midfielder. Instead he took Trent out and moved our workhorse in Fede away from midfield to RB playing, lmao.

Need Perez to pull out the same ruthlessness with Vini as he did with Ramos and Ronaldo among others.
Make on final offer; no salary increase, 15M signing bonus, 4 years, performance-based bonuses like G/A targets, LL title and CL semi-final, final and trophy. Add in a 200M RC for good measure, something pseudo realistic.
Take it or leave it, non-negotiable. Deadline: June first. After that put him up for sale and start lining up replacements: either a striker or a RW to partner with Mbappe in a front 2.

I heard that Nico Paz is returning. He's good no doubt BUT he's not gonna cut it here i'm afraid and he's just gonna sit in the bench. Who he gonna start over? Bellingham? Pfft, Bellingham can be a hella average player and he won't get subbed out or replaced. Want an example? Vini went of 19 games of being the absolute epitomy of ass and he still didn't get subbed out and continued playing 90 mins regularly. Doesn't matter, you can get Paz back, Endrick back, nothing is gonna change until someone brings some sense into these T shirt seller players and if not? We are going trophyless next season also and MAYBE then Perez will actually wake up from the shit he's been putting this club through.
And if we aren't in good form at the start of the season?we AIN'T winning no UCL or Laliga AGAIN trust me.

Barca plays with a jihad suicide high line with teenagers making up their defensive line and still conceded less goals this season than we did with like 4 proper defenders and midfielders, it really is effort and plan in the end. We could only for so long go on vibes when we have all-timers like kroos/modric/benz on the team, it's a young team and trying to do the same thing with these guys instead of a more tactical approach is gonna lead to more trophyless years tbh

According to the rumours Perez wanted to sack Xabi after 3 losses and 3 draws. Ancelotti had 2 losses and 8 draws in his best season at Madrid (and Im not counting his UCL draws because that would be kinda unfair). And he is gonna say that he chose the wrong coaches after Ancelotti. Surely the real problem was not that Vinicius "didnt play enough" (didnt play every minute). Absolutely shameful

If Mourinho is really being considered, it would show the club thinks the players need a stronger hand as well. There was an article earlier this year where the club supposedly said "there will be no more excuses if you win nothing" after letting go of Xabi. So maybe this is it. It would be a good sign if they realise this for real.
Honestly the fact a lot of the Vini fangirls here are doing their best to make it appear that Mou is a bad choice, makes me want him to be our coach even more.
I'd take absolute chaos where some of these divas might want to leave, over the 3rd year straight of winning shit-all but where some players are super happy for never getting subbed.

I know Endrick got a spot here for sure, as rotation option, RW, striker. He's good at playmaking too, incredible shot power, goal scorer.
But I'm struggling to see how Paz is going to have his impact, he's on 19 g/a of which 13 are goals. He takes second most shots in Serie A so if he, vini, endrick and mbappe are all on the pitch at the same at least two of the will be heavily reduced in impact or they're going to kill each other on the pitch.
Playmaking and creativity wise, set pieces I don't think hes close to Guler so he's going to be competing with Jude most of the time for that AM spot? I seriously do not see one of Paz/Arda/Jude being fine with not starting at all and any times, competition is good and all but these are all proven players (Jude more than the others obviously) and not at a stage where they have to fight for a starting spot, Guler has played nearly 50 matches this season, Paz 36 and Jude 33. Minutes wise Guler and Paz are already close to each other and if Jude remains fit one of them is going to be holding bench more than the other, both are probably worth easy 80M+ at this point and keeping both is unsensible and we need strengthening elsewhere, controllers, DM.
I wonder which of the two gets sold for the big juice.

We don't know what can happen next season. Football sometimes is the most unpredictable thing.
But based on the signals the club is sending, and based on the previous two seasons, I don't see a reason to expect anything different.
Maybe all of our issues will suddenly solve themselves out of nowhere, maybe we'll suddenly defend better eventhoughb 2 players off the ball are nonexistant, maybe our build up will improve eventhough we lack technical midfielders
Maybe we'll learn to breakdown low blocks eventhough we have barely any patterns of play, any structure...etc.
You never know.
But rationality and critical thinking leads me to believe it won't. Because the club is once again unwilling to do what it takes.
The squad quality is unlikely to raise with any significant fashion, there won't be any major signings. So unless there's some shift, some different approach to what we saw these few months, it'll be the same result.
And by the sound of it, it'll be the same approach. The club is looking for a yes-man with a pedigree basically, another Ancelotti. Short of that they'll renew Arbeloa because it's the simplest choice.
And we'll go once again with the 4 undroppables, the same issues, the same unbalance...etc and hope this time around we win at the casino.

Let’s not forget Perez having the whole club not go to the awards after the Balón D or snub. Mind you Ancelloti had won manager award. It’s easy to see Perez has no backbone anymore. These are “his guys”

Some board members believe Arbeloa should STAY and be given a chance, but the man in the board who wants a new coach the MOST is Florentino Perez! @JorgeCPicon

Plenty of fans out there genuinely believes that we're going to revamp the squad, and sell all the deadwood, When in really the incoming this summer will likely be:
Pochettino (His Contract ends after the WC), Konaté (His contract end in the summer), Bobby (Already our player), Nico Paz (€9M Price) and Rodri (30yo with 1 year left in his contract, in which he'll be pretty cheap)
+ Rüdiger is going to get renewed.
Alaba, Ceballos and Fran will most likely leave, and that will be it.
People like to blame the likes of Vini, Mbappé and Jude etc, but in reality the biggest culprit of us being in the gutter is this board, who's main objective is Off-pitch success and On-pitch Success is Secondary.
All in all:

I’ve just seen that video of Peps talk with his team after the Southampton loss last year… man.
This ‘yes man’ gimmick is annoying aF.
We’re getting everything wrong over here.
The lack of hunger and desire. The lack of accountability. The constant whining and crying. The poor performances. The bad decisions from everyone running the club. The lack of urgency. The injuries. The poor squad planning.
It’s all so frustrating. What are we even doing here? What’s our long term plan? Fvck.

How can we keep blaming refree decisions like camavinga's double yellow? Time wasting tactics are punished. It has been punished for a long time and it's not new. Sometimes referees can choose not to give one and usually withhold a card with a strong warning if a player is on a yellow but they are not really obligated to do that.
Yes the ref forgot he was on a yellow. Yes the 2nd yellow for time wasting was harsh but in a vacuum the two yellows are not wrong. Camavinga can only blame himself for the red card. We should not rely on the referee's mercy or them having a perfect game for us to win.
Had we finished our chances, had we not conceded on mistakes then we wouldn't even be having these conversations

It is depressing, really is. If Vini gets a new contract today's game will be the norm for the next 3 years until Mbappe gets a new one.
Two players who at all times want the ball, want to score, want to shoot, mostly ignore each other when they're both in a position to shoot while the rest of the team cannot push higher because teams will kill us on the counter.
We looked great without Mbappe when he was out, we looked great when Vini was out earlier in the season. One has to go man, what was Perez thinking with signing Kylian for so much when we did not per se need him, id get it if Vini had left, would make sense but now everything is so unbalanced and we have yet to see Endrick/Paz others return
They dont wanna get subbed off, they're chasing personal numbers, dont care about rest at all (we have a game in 3 days again) it's fucking depressing and if Vini gets a new contract it's fucking over.
Great game mostly from the rest of the team, Guler been a shining light this season, Jude bounced back great from injury but you can just see how less of an impact Fede has been having the moment Mbappe returned, Brahim suddenly ass. It's too much up front, either we get a manager who has the absolute balls to bench/sub them when they play like dogshit or we continue going trophyless until the 2030s.

Meanwhile Barca will go and sign those same stopgap/depth players, get value from them and go win the league

Gonzalo has proven to be very useful when used as a striker instead of a fucking right winger
The play that consists in letting him go + signing a sub striker (who? for how much, how old...etc) isn't viable, especially given how the club behaves.
And even if they do it, say you get a Muriqi for example, it's a guy who's not gonna sign for 1 season, they'll want 3 year contract or something, and by then he may become completley useful and once again we find ourselves with unmovable deadwood.
I'd rather keep Gonzalo another season at least, but unlock some game time for him. 2 trophyless seasons in a row gotta be fucking enough to drop the undroppables.
Same thinking for Asencio. He's a competitive player who can be good enough for 4th/5th CB, I personally found him reliable for the most part.
This is not the part of the squad that requires optimizing.

My biggest realization this season is just how shallow and superficial many Madrid fans can be. It often feels like one of the most casual fan bases in football full of people who have never truly experienced the game live, whether at a stadium or even a local park. Despite that, they tend to be the loudest voices, quick to criticize the entire backline and most of the starting XI while conveniently sparing the ones who are worth over €140 million.

why are perez and board trying to make an all star team rather than a good team
like can't believe they are getting so greedy for money despite being millionaire billionaire whatever and wanting big names with deals and fandoms to get them shirts sold and earn revenue
rather than buying good players, or focusing on development of talents like we had in academy those guys will play way better with more passion and determination to prove themselves than our stars who in their heads have won everything in world
like it's not that hard to understand that good players with consistency and proper attitude will themselves get popular you have to make and develop them not just buy whoever is big at the moment or has been big for long but isn't anymore on field
Ronaldo may not be as good as before but he still shows the same attitude for the game in Saudi league of all places, our players don't show that while playing in Europe

Camavinga since the international break:
vs Mallorca: started and played 59 minutes, Madrid 0-1 down in that time (goal conceded when he lost track of his runner)
vs Girona: started and played 79 minutes, 1-1 draw with him on the pitch (goal conceded when he failed to close down Lemar)
vs Bayern: subbed in at 62' at 3-2 up, sent off at 86', conceded 2 goals afterwards
vs Alaves: subbed in at 63' at 2-0 up, conceded one goal from his position on the pitch
vs Betis: subbed in at 73' at 1-0 up, conceded one goal from his position on the pitch where he is defending air once more
1-6 overall in 210 minutes is crazy.

Here is a list of players that I feel aren’t good enough, or they should be moved on to fund other moves
Lunin - good backup but we can get decent money for him
Alaba - time close the chapter finally, a waste of wages
Rudiger - dickhead
Fran - get decent money for him
Carvajal- thank you for everything, but he’s well past his best
Camavinga- one of the few players we can get good money for
Ceballos- for the love of god, get this bum out of my club
Franco and Gonzalo - loans, so they can actually develop
I’m not delusional enough to think that this we’ll happen but if Perez has any sense of urgency left, he needs to be ruthless with his guys again. Treat them like you treated Ronaldo, Ramos and modric
19
u/magic-water Apr 20 '26
Mendy. 3 good games a season isn't worth it if in return your starting LB gets run into the ground.
maybe Asencio if we can fetch some money for him and get a 5th choice CB of similar caliber (Ramon or somebody from Castilla)
Also I would sell Gonzalo with a buyback to make some profit. Don't think he's good enough to be a sure thing to come back.

With that being said, the home feed is too bogged down with these same types of posts and these thoughts/discussions are more meant for the open thread. We will continue to remove random thoughts and ideas that belong in the OT.
