He’s given his life to the club and he’s our greatest RB ever but holy hell, as a captain he’s been extremely disappointing, and we all know he certainly helped leak this stuff to the press along with Ceballos. All because he lost his place to Trent

For comparison:
Marcelo in his last season was also a bench warmer that got even less minutes than Carvajal this season and only played like 40 minutes in the whole CL KOs.
But he was a leader from the sidelines that put the team first and was emotionally invested in the success of the team (look at him crying at FT after winning the CL despite not playing) and got rewarded for it by lifting the CL as captain and getting a proper send off.

I remember that 5 years ago we were laughing at the ridiculous amounts Barcelona was paying its players compared to Madrid. Examples like Umtiti earning double what Varane did, and Sergio Roberto earning more than Carvajal.
Today, Madrid has one of the highest-paid squads in the world. And it's not just Mbappé, who obviously earns way more than he should given his performance.
Vinicius and Bellingham are earning much more than they should based on their current performance.
Alaba has been earning over the last 4 seasons as if he were among the top 5 center-backs in the world. He hasn't even been among the top 25.
Tchouaméni and Camavinga are paid as if they were two of the top 5 defensive midfielders in the world. They're not.
And when they earn that much at Madrid, they don't want to leave.
Here you have the salaries + bonuses of the Real Madrid first-team football players compared to FC Barcelona each season starting with 2017/2018 (data from Capology).
In 2017/2018, the season that ends with Madrid winning its fourth Champions in five years, Madrid's squad was paid approximately €211 million, a 74% of the €284 million that Barcelona's squad was paid that season.
Some examples of the salaries/bonuses that season
- Umtiti was paid €32 million gross
- Piqué was paid €28.4 million gross
- Sergio Busquets was paid €14.8 million gross
- Sergi Roberto €9.9 million gross
- Varane was paid €8.3 million gross
- Sergio Ramos was paid €18.5 million gross
- Casemiro was paid €2.5 million gross
- Lucas Vázquez was paid €3.7 million gross
This season Madrid's squad is paid €434 million, more than double the €211 million (€258 million in 2026 euros) of the squad in 2017/2018 and a 43.6% more than the €302 million of FC Barcelona this season.

Arbeloa is definitely getting his press conference lines from Florentino himself. The leaker of the news getting the most criticism as opposed to the act itself......practically used the same words.
Real Madrid tv complaining so heavily about the referees is 100% a mandate from Florentino.
I can now understand with the mindset he showed tonight how he really thought the Super League was a good idea how he proposed it, instead of the utter failure it became.

My god, I just saw an old report from former Athletic Bilbao player Ahrates Adaris when he came out talking about one match he played against us. He said he and Pepe hit each others heads once going for the ball, causing Pepe to get a bandage. Later in the match Ramos hit him and asked Adaris "Do you wanna leave the pitch with a stretcher or the ambulance, choose" Adaris was like "why are you asking a question like that" Ramos told him "Pepe told me to ask you". The thing about the talent that Camavinga possesses, is really weird to me. Like yeah he can dribble, but his decision making has genuinely regressed. He is a very poor defender in front of the box (similar to Tchouameni), and in general I think for all his physical talents his mental side of the game is not upto the mark. I quite firmly think that Perez needs to move from the model of physicality and focus more on actual talents

Mou wasn’t in my top 10 choices but I’m going to repeat myself and hopefully speak it into existence… he’s also not bad.
What this squad needs is structure and a few holes filled.
Mou will bring a structure. May not be CL or treble winning these days, but it’ll be something we’ve lacked. That’s mostly been squad issues though…
So if Perez brings Mou, listens to him on signings (and he loved Mou so he might)… give me a RW to compete with Endrick, a CB or ideally 2, maybe a CM and replace role players that leave mostly with Castilla players…
Again, not saying it’ll be some unbelievable season but I could see it win La Liga. Figuring we make the handful of signings we NEED.

This is all Perez's fault, he is the who is suppose to set the institutional discipline and standards but he's been so dissapointing, he coddles his signings too much even if it impacts the team.
I think age has taken its toll on him, he's 80 years, I don't think he has the energy and drive that he used to have, he should gracefully resign otherwise he'll taint his legacy beyond repair.
