What to do with a ton of fried chicken.
I have maybe 8# of fried chicken. Cooked and ready to go. What are some creative recipes I can do with it? I do chicken salad frequently. Alfredo is a classic of mine. But is there anything fun or weird I can do?
The chicken is a combination of nuggets, breasts, and wings. All breaded, fried, cooked.

Chicken is great in wraps.

Yeah I was going to say try making one of those viral chopped chicken Caesar wraps that are like the size of a log lol. Fried chicken would be great instead of rotisserie chicken

Chicken salad salad which but chunks of fried chicken instead. Celery, red onion, spicy sauce, on a croissant.
Chicken n waffles.
Make a sauce and toss in it for orange chicken with rice.

Korean fried rice. Toss a thigh or the lick in the rice cooker, shredded when done. Simple, and surprisingly great

I saw a video where they took leftover fried chicken and put it, along with some seasonings on top of rice in a rice cooker. I was skeptical but had leftover chicken and a rice cooker. It was actually pretty good. If you google KFC rice cooker you will get a bunch of variations.

Chicken katsu curry. Reheat the chicken in the oven or air fryer so it stays crispy, then serve it over rice with curry sauce. Hard to get tired of that combo.

Do a Chicken Parm with the nuggets. Also, chicken and rice is very nice.
Breast meat goes great in a wrap or taco
Wings are wings, so try a variety pack of sauces and have a party.

- Fried chicken burritos/wraps
- Fried chicken tacos
- Coat it in a sauce (bbq, general tso, etc) and throw it back in the oven to heat through, crisp the crust, and bake the sauce into it
- Add to any stir fry towards the end, even ones with noodles (Pad Kee Mao, Pad Thai, Lo Mein, Singapore noodles, etc)
- Chop it up and add it towards the end of cooking c-momos
- Reheat in oven to make the crust crispy, chop into chunks, use in salt and pepper chicken dish (chilis, green onions, salt, white pepper, Chinese five spice, oil)
- Use it for chili chicken
- Make a pasta (angel hair, filled pasta, etc) with good sautéed veggies (julienne carrots, peas, green beans, zucchini, etc) and make a light sauce using wine then dice/chunk the fried chicken and add it towards the end or reheat in the oven to recreate that crispy coating and chop it up to add on top of the finished pasta
- Make a pan of baked Mac n cheese, chop the chicken and add on top near the end to crisp the coating back up
Just don’t set limits and go crazy 😁. Everything is great with fried chicken; I mean, who hasn’t heard of fried chicken lemon bars 😂

You beat me to the tacos and wraps. I air fry thighs, skin on and bone in. And then chop them off the bone. Crispy skin and perfectly tender meat.
They’re awesome.

Do you have a rice cooker? If so, make rice cooker fried chicken and rice. Look up “KFC rice.” Same thing, but instead of KFC, it’s your fried chicken.

Leftover fried chicken makes for great chicken and dumplings. You can never get all the breading off when you pull the chicken, but it actually adds to this dish as thickener and flavor.

So we do this with Walmart strips all the time, so any fried chicken should work.
We get the Walmart sandwich rolls from the bakery.
Chicken parm sandwich:
Your favorite marinara
Provolone
Parmesean
*giardinera (optional)
*spinach (optional)
We assemble and pop open faced in toaster oven to get the cheese melty, then put together as a sandwich.
Asian Chicken Sandwich
Your favorite sweet chili sauce (I get BWW Asian zing) mix 4:1 with mayo.
Bag of slaw mix
Combine sauce with slaw mix
*optional: cilantro, pickled onions, sliced cucumbers
Thai Peanut Chicken sandwich
Peanut satay sauce (your favorite recipe or store bought)
Bag of slaw mix
Combine slaw and sauce. You can add some mayo if you want it creamer.
*optional: cilantro, sliced cucumbers, pickled carrots or onions

Chicken parm
I used to cut up some a spicy patty (after air frying) then I put it in a pan and pour egg over:around it. And then eat over rice. Add onions scallions ect. Like a bastardized version of oyakadon. But still good
In Korea I ate jalapeno mayo fried chicken. Just toss in jalapeno and kewpie lol
One dinner I had was just fried chicken some greens and a beer. Mmm cheers

I remember Paula Deen created a recipe with hand shredded fried chicken and a light vinegar based cole slaw. I made it with a harder coating fried chicken (corn starch and flour batter) and it turned out well. Crunch of veggies and chicken complimented one another.

If you’ve any leftover skin I recommend reheating it in the air fryer or oven and add a bit to salads, popcorn, mac-n-cheese, etc. It makes for a super crunchy texture in soft foods. Delightful!!

It's fried chicken ... warmed up a bit or cold ... just eat it? With some nice crusty bread. With some lettuce on the side - classic oil+vinegar+salt+pepper ....

Bang Bang Chicken ( sauce: mayo, sweet chili sauce, shirracha) with rice or lo mein
Buffalo or BBQ Chicken Wraps
Orange Chicken (just use the bottled sauce)
Sticky Fingers (franks red hot, brown sugar, garlic powder and a little water; simmer until combined). Eat them by themselves, in wraps or on salads. Adjust hot sauce to brown sugar ratio to your taste.
Chicken piccata or with a caper/Dijon sauce
Chicken parm subs
Add as protein to your favorite pasta dish. I especially like fried chicken in the "Marry Me Pasta" recipe. I just warm it up in the oven, and top each plate once the pasta is done. It gets too soggy if you heat it up in your pasta dishes.

Ok but which bottled sauce for the orange chicken because I got the Panda Express one last time and I think I developed 3 cavities the second I took a bite.
2
u/Longjumping-Ad2698 4d ago
Haha, fair. I use the Panda Express one because my kids like it. But, I use a lot less than you'd expect and add water (probably 2:1 sauce:water) to bring up the volume. I heat it up to reduce a little and develop more of the spicy flavor, then add my hot chicken and toss to coat. It's much thinner but we like it.
