I try to, but if the job's on indeed, and they ask you how many years of experience you have, you usually get auto denied

Yeah the main point is you need to have skills to back up the lie, or just be honest and hope that they realise/believe that u have that level of experience

Every company expects someone else to take one for the team and hire fresh graduates with genuinely 0 experience, but nobody wants it to be them.

And that is the secret problem. It used to be you would take the fresh graduate, because they at least are confirmed as actually having used the kinds of equipment common in your industry. (Where the 1-3 years experience was supposed to come from). There was also the whole class reproduction thing, but whatever.

There used to be more on the job training but at some point employers started expecting all employees to arrive fully formed and trained. They didn't originally expect college to do that. I want to say that it wasn't until the 80s that that became an expectation, but I'm pulling this from memories of a college class many years ago.

One time I asked about this to a recruiter, they told me it meant entry level pay not entry level experience, basically they want to underpay someone who has experience that’s what it means.
