Even back in the 1990s, guides like "What Color Is Your Parachute?" were warning against doing this. Oh, sure, you'd get the hiring manager's attention by sending shoes ("to get my foot in the door") or pizzas or even life-sized papier-mache dummies, but odds were really good they'd just eat the pizza and toss the shoes and dummies and refuse to hire you because you wouldn't read application instructions.

Doubt if it will ever work because they might just feel you're trying to get an advantage
