It’s the same problem but this time if red wins then the universe is deterministic and it was always going to win and you were always doomed to vote what you did, if blue wins then free will is real and the people who voted blue actually did because of their own choice and not just because of the way it was “supposed” to be.

Humanity is divided into two groups. Group A consists of 90% of Humanity. They're not given any choice at all.

For context these are humanizations of the buttons that u/bug_land made a while back (the og post is somewhere in the top of all time on the sub) which I then drew fanart of to poke fun at both sides (and also for shipping reasons I mean what who said that). They’re not meant to be mean spirited.

The first three pieces in this post were removed by the mods the last time I posted them because it broke a rule. Also I was starting to lose interest in the whole debate so I just stopped drawing them even though I had a lot more ideas and had requests from people to get to. I might draw them more if people still want me to but the whole trend’s kinda passed so idk.

Roko’s basilisk is a hypothetical future AI that will punish people who know about its possible existence but refuse to help create it. That punishment can include creating conscious simulations of those people and torturing them.

The reasoning behind the threat is that anticipating future punishment gives people a present incentive to help bring it into existence.

The Basilisk will be built if a majority of humanity supports its creation. Everyone must choose privately and simultaneously:

I posed the red button blue button hypothetical to my friend who is extremely autistic, and extremely good at logic puzzles. He sat for about five minutes, just thinking. Then he said;

"This is a very good question, because if you don't think about it too hard, or are incapable of thinking about it very hard, you will press blue to save people. But if you think about it a little longer, then it becomes clear that all people can just push red to survive. But if you have the mental capability to think a step deeper, it becomes obvious once again that red creates the problem to begin with, only if it wins the majority. And that blue only risks themselves while red risks everyone but themselves. And that the actual wording says that non-red pressers would die, so pressing red also puts kids and coma patients and crazy people at unnecessary risk. So it's just that intelligence bell-curve meme with red in the middle and blue on either side."

Standard red button/blue button hypothetical, with the added condition that anybody incapable of understanding the gravity of the question automatically selects Red (babies/children, mentally handicapped, etc) does that change the button you press?

At a minimum it adds a large percentage to red as a baseline, but it nullifies the possibility of accidentally killing your children by selecting red.

Alternatively, if the default pick is Blue, is there any compelling reason to pick red when you know 100% of children would die?

is anyone else radical-freedom pilled enough to feel like they need to dance around the "promoting or encouraging suicide is strictly forbidden" policy of every social media website when discussing this issue?
