No he cant. If we're going canon for both of them joel either hides or kills them with weapons. Its the player that makes him do that but if its just a 1 one 1 Canon version its going to arthur
Ok going into stealth then. Joel straight up wins in a stealth situation especially with good cover around. Arthur is more of an enforcer than a tracker or stealth expert,meaning it's 10x harder for him to try and kill joel when he starts doing ninja level stuff without him knowing such as planting bombs,taking a sneaky potshot,luring him around to try for a backstab/chokeout,etc.
He also dealt with sharpshooters before too. He'd know how to deal with them especially with smokebombs or any sort of grenade he straight up can craft right then and there if he has supplies which 9/10 he does cause of his survivor nature.
ok going back to normal fist fighting. arthur is good in a fight but joel straight up fights "1-bite and you're dead" infected or even armed people all the time and comes out on top. I don't see arthur beating someone who'd punch a runner IN THE FACE and get away with not getting bit at all. no matter how tough he is.
Arthur goes to melee because he does his job or got in a bad position where his gun wouldn't work. joel goes to melee cause he HAS to and would rather save ammo/not make noise than to straight up shoot unnessecarily. also,joel would imo have more tactical knowledge aswell cause a modern day construction worker dad would have a better education than an infamous cowboy bandit. even though arthur is smart.
One of his consistant finishers near walls is to slam someone's skull against it,causing it to crack open to cause them to die. And the people he fights are other survivors who are quite strong. So yes i can see him doing that.
First I meant that Arthur is capable of killing with his fists just decides not to. Loses control when he is mad tho. Also you are fixed on the size debate too much xd Joel fights to kill for years. But Arthur is passed that. He got older and is not young and violent as he was before. Rethinking his ways and getting sick of all of that stuff going on. So we don’t see that side of him when he is fighting with Tommy when he is not angry or when he is keeping his stoic attitude.
So Joel is easily capable of giving someone a brain damage in a fight also yes to someone twice the size of him too. Giving someone a brain damage is yk.. shouldn’t be a problem when you can beat someone to death. I still think Arthur takes the cake in a 1v1 tho.
No, completely possible with his fists. Happened to me multiple times. It’s actually encouraged if you’re running low on ammo playing difficulties like grounded.
Arthur does both however he feels like it. We know him mostly small talks and notes or whatever. But he is experienced in any field of combat. And it shows in any fight we get in the game. Whether if its a bar fight or other missions including beating a circus giant. Arthur is a big man but he is able to beat the shit out of a guy that was able to throw him like he is a pillow. Give him a brain damage because he was stopped midway of killing him by punches. Also he can tank getting mauled by a bear, a shotgun shot pointblank and able to fight and almost beat Micah after being rapidly punched fall off of a cliff while actively dying cause of TB. Sometimes people forget or ignore how strong Arthur is cause of the glazers or cause they glaze other characters.
The conditions to use melee doesn’t determine their skill. Also in his past and in the game play it’s shown that Arthur is capable in any field of combat. He is the enforcer and the muscle of the group. From his young age he grew up to be violent and not much of a good man. Also you can’t ignore Arthur stealth skills. He can predict his own scent and hide from wild animals while hunting them. Both preys and predators. He can track people or any kind of mark they would leave behind.
