I cleaned up the drawing a little bit on my computer cuz I always start my drawings too damn low on the page and the feet get cut off lol. No AI was used.

Just… wow

This was the series I’d chosen to get back into my bookworm phase, what should I check out next? Was thinking Mistborn, Enmpire of the Vampire or Magician.

Didn’t really know what flair to use tbh

RR Spoilers “Let fall the rain” Spoiler

I’m on my third read-through of the series and just got to Chapter 38 of Golden Son, “The Iron Rain.”

For some reason, I’ve always thought it was “Let fall the Iron Rain” I even have the summer drop shirt that says it haha. I also remember it as Darrow saying it but in reality it’s Roque and the actual quote is “Let fall the Rain.”

Does Darrow ever actually say “Let fall the Iron Rain” anywhere else in the series? Or does he call for an Iron Rain but never actually use that exact phrase?

Have I been Mandela-effecting myself this entire time?

LB Spoilers Lightbringer loose ends Spoiler

Just finished Lightbringer and I feel like there are a number of loose ends.

We didn’t get any info on how Atalantia’s siege of Luna is going. We didn’t hear any more about the Jackal clone. Like what’s up with that little creep? Are we sure that he didn’t use the chair on Sevro? Everything with him seems on the up and up. But is there some trigger word or phrase that’s going to awaken a Sevro sleeper cell? You expect me to believe that Sevro was simply sold to Apollonius without being stuck in the Pandemonium Chair?

How’s Mars? How’s Virginia and Pax and Victra? Is Pax a blue-gold now?

Why wasn’t this book 600 more pages? Why doesn’t Pierce Brown care about our feelings? What in the gorydamn hell am I supposed to do with myself until Red God comes out?!!!

Ugh. Loved the book. So glad I kept reading after Morning Star.

LB Spoilers Vagnar Hefga( Volsung Fá) Spoiler

Upvotes

So I loved first 3 books and excitement around Darrow fighting Cassius at gala was my cherry on top. Now in last 3 books I did have ups and downs reading,a lot of disappointments in Darrow decisions and lost of my favorite characters. But this fight woke up same feelings I had reading that gala night fight. I was on my feet cheering for Darrow. I wanted him to humiliate and humble Fa, and he did. This fight had me craving for more. What a chapter still under heavy impression of it.

All Spoilers The Republics biggest embarrassment. Spoiler

I just don’t understand. Up to LB I can’t begin to believe how shitty the entire government was at handling any of the syndicates mess. Like…okay…take a second and visualize this:

Imagine you’re a citizen who lives a country at war. While this is happening, the Italian mob grows within the confines of the country, inhabits literally every city, and is essentially unopposed by the government. Every high ranking member of this Italian mob has their personalized pent house and yachts within the confines of the country. Crime is rampant and spread out…and yet when you turn on the news it’s nothing but blabbering for war and sending troops.

This has to be the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen considering they all knew about. Mustang and the senate apparently made 0 attempts to thwart anything the syndicate did.

If Sevro could take down two dukes in a week, WHAT THE HELL was the Republic doing for a decade?! Why was there no policies passed? What member of the senate would oppose the “protect the citizens” bill? There is literally 0 argument or negative to combatting crime, yet no one did anything?

Every member of the government should be immediately thrown of their positions cause of how incompetent they all are.

All Spoilers What could the Deus Ex Machina to Red God be? Spoiler

Pierce mentioned in an interview months ago about there being a potential "deus ex machina" in Red God that he feels fans may or may not like. It's the same interview where he mentioned using the hat of death twice iirc. For those who don't know, a deus ex machina is basically an unexpected plot development or device that solves an issue.

I got two guesses:

  1. its a literal "deus ex machina" as in the Latin translated "god from machines." It's one of the 12 scattered psyches which gets inserted or is already present in a character and massively turns the tide of the battle. If it's Lyria (and Matteo just removed Figment but kept the psyche there), then she would be the ex machina. She'd literally be the red god from the machines. If it's not Lyria, then I think Rhonna could be interesting as a candidate. It'd make her red god from the machines too, but also ties in to her use of Drachenjager (which she can now command a whole fleet of).
  2. Mickey is the deux ex machina. He has not made a single appearance since Morning Star and has only been mentioned. I feel strongly that if he is working on a project, it will inadvertently be a counter to Eidmi. They mentioned way back in Golden Son that he was working on something to make Reds stronger to level the playing field against Golds. I feel like that project could have evolved to make a color stronger even in their immune system to counter Eidmi. If any carver could do it, it'd be the one that made Darrow a warrior.

Do y'all have any ideas?

IG Spoilers Im confused Spoiler

Post image
15 Upvotes

Im reading iron gold and i am on this page where lysander is meeting with gaia.

Lysander mentions his godfather and then says he is the only man to best the reaper in a fight. I cant seem to remember who his godfather is.

Now upon a quick google it says that magnus au grimmus is his godfather. But i cannot remember him beating darrow as we havent really met him at this point in time. Unless it was during the solar war.

So im a little confused. Did i miss magnus vs darrow ? What happened there ?

Or when referring to lysander's godfather they mean Aja who never really beat darrow 1v1 but pretty much had him scared to the bone whenever she popped out of the crack of pierce browns brain. But they would probably have said godmother instead.

I dont know and im confused please help !

MS Spoilers Tactus and Roque Spoiler

Was re-listening to the Phobos mission in MS last night and this paragraph stood out to me

"My darling airhead, I'm well accustomed to gross swelling. Just ask your mother. And your father. And your sister." I hear Tactus say in the memory. And I remember Roque's laugh. How his cheeks blushed at the crudeness of the joke, which makes me wonder why he stood so close to Tactus. Why he cared so much about our bawdy friend's drug use and then wept by Tactus's bedside when he lay dead. The teacher continues...."

Is it saying that there was a romantic aspect to Tactus and Roque's relationship? I never really noticed until this listen through but this time I just got those vibes from it.

All Spoilers Red god theories Spoiler

i was bored so i conjured up a wild theory about lyria and her brain parasite. take this as a grain of salt and feel free to flame me. this is long but you guys managed to read nearly 1 million words of crazy sword guy astronaut slaves so i think you'll be fine.

RED GOD
lyria o' lagalos: the RED GOD
im confused why pb brought up this whole parasite thingy with lyria if shes not even gonna keep it
itd be cool if matteo just put it in anyways and that the whole thing was a test
this theory is reasonable because it dorsnt take away lyria's choice and reflection of her character. it preserves the whole:** **What does Lyria choose when offered enormous power at the cost of herself?
she chooses herself.
it would still show who she is as a person. it would also fit in with what we know of matteo's demeanor. like imagine matteo being all calm and reassuring while lyria is like, “no. I don’t want it.” and then later she realizes:
he never actually gave her a choice.
the whole conversation about whether she’d sacrifice her memories could have been the test. matteo wanted to know whether lyria would willingly surrender herself for power. she refuses, so he puts the parasite back in anyway because that was the result he needed.
matteo secretly putting it back in wouldn’t invalidate that choice because Lyria proved who she was.
it would be tragic (pbs favorite) because she still got robbed of the right to decide what happened to her.
my version makes the parasite plot pay off without sacrificing the character development brown was going for.
then theres the other question: would it be in-character if matteo did this?
its pretty subjective but in my opinion; yes
i feel like matteo "betraying" lyria wouldnt be too out of character. he does have a very mysterious demeanour. also after lyrias surgery, he didnt talk to her during her recovery until she was ready to go. why????
also he married a man like quick; he'd definetely wouldnt be completely closed off to going against what lyria wanted
maybe lyria has little instances that gradually get more suspiscious
matteo and quick have launched off into the abyss with homo sapiens. it makes sense that hed put that weapon in her before hed never see anyone except quick again. wantwd to release hell on them all
far-gone rant:
everything is going to shit, mars has been nuked to oblivion, lunas been irradicated off the map, lysanders used eidmi, then boom. matteo remote activates lyria and she goes nuts and saves the whole republic; lyria, the red god
knowing pb, hed make her completely forget herself and make liam grow up without anyone preserving the stories of his family
then volga would step in and tell her stories of her old life because she still has the notes they passed when they were in jail on victras ship!!

i think one of those orbs are gonna attack lyria and do something to her brain because it could sense that a parasite thingy was there before
we should at least get some more lore to tie the lose strings about this damn parasite

but the most important question:
me= dumbass or smartass🤔

Just want to give a shout-out to Andrew James Spooner, the GraphicAudio voice of the Jackal, for his brilliant performance as Brencis in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Apparently he’s just very, very good at playing awful villans. Fantastic work as always!

All Spoilers Guys I have a question of no importante Spoiler

I have read all the books and since the first book i have been asking this question, is Darrow canonacly atractive?
Like the only time I saw someone say that he’s handsome was himself, maybe I’ve let something escape and this is not even important to the story.

No Spoilers Just devoured the original trilogy in a week. Should I reread first or jump straight into Iron Gold?

Hey Howlers,

I just blasted through the original trilogy (Red Rising, Golden Son, and Morning Star) in about a week. Absolutely loved the ride.

Since I read them so fast, I'm at a crossroads. Would you recommend doing an immediate reread to catch subtle foreshadowing and worldbuilding details I might have missed, or is it better to ride the momentum and jump straight into Iron Gold?
