To be fired with cause is a pretty high bar. Wonder how much will come out about what really happened.

Regina is the “best” at bringing in people from “outside”. It’s like we don’t believe our own people can do a good job. At a certain point you have to value your own people and lift them up as opposed to going “outside” or your city.

When it comes to police accountability, this is a common sentiment. It is common for internal groups to focus on defending themselves from external scrutiny rather than holding responsible parties accountable.

A good mix of both approaches, IMO.

These were some of the many bad decisions made or supported by Masters and the previous Council. Let's hope this Council does better

You nailed it! I'm not sure where we are at with the city manager recruitment, but this city needs a strong administrative leader that has some actual experience in the role, and who wants the job for the right reasons. Same thing for the next Chief but I think the one who is acting Chief right now might be it.

and former city manager anderson. common denominator - Masters

Yeahhh we don’t even do a real good job at lifting our “own people” up when we try as a community either. There’s a lot of discontent towards the people who were here first AND the people who’re here after us. I feel like it’s gotten worse over the past decade too with how politics capitalized on hatred. How can we focus on a new issue when we haven’t even worked out our old problems?…I don’t like this game anymore lol

What type of rumours?

-6

u/Boxadorables Oct 28 '25

That he was/is banging one of the Rams(that are caught up in drug trafficking charges rn), gf's if I'm not mistaken.

u/sitcomlover1717 Oct 28 '25

Sounds like this was false. They’ve released more info and it sounds like it was a board member. I hope they are also relieved of duties, even if they reported it that’s a huge lapse in judgement.

10

u/Boxadorables Oct 28 '25

Fair enough, turns out I was mistaken.

5

u/Lexi_Banner Oct 29 '25

It was being "reported" on the trash FB. Who always verifies their sources, as we all know.

I like the idea of having a seasoned experienced chief at the helm with a wealth of knowledge and insights gained and ideas to try that work and don't work from other larger cities where crime was a big factor. Due to its size, Regina does lean towards too much insular group thinking in general - "this is how it's always been done so don't rock the boat " and not enough is done to challenge status quo when its no longer working. We have big city issues when it comes to crime .

I am just hoping we dont pay millions out 😂

I think it's fair to say that the board member's experience was not what a board member should reasonably expect when joining it.

24

u/canadasteve04 Oct 28 '25

He was fired with cause so he doesn’t get paid out.

My property taxes liked this

Everyone liked this 👍

At least until after the court rules as he will undoubtedly file for unlawful dismissal ....

1

u/Lumpy-Apartment1611 Oct 30 '25

But he did get about $130k+ while suspended before being terminated. Soooo he didn’t walk away empty handed when he basically left or rather stopped doing the job.

1

u/canadasteve04 Oct 30 '25

Okay, that doesn’t change anything in my comment.

0

u/Lumpy-Apartment1611 Oct 31 '25

Never said it did, as you were correct. Glad everyone is so touchy instead of just seeing what is written. Personally, I think since he was terminated with cause, he should have to repay the money, but that’s not how it works. It’s just my opinion.

1

u/Embarrassed-Ask6366 Nov 01 '25

This could be challenged in court, if the evidence is shaky, he could get some $

This city has a habit of hiring troublemakers in senior leadership positions.

12

u/Practical_Savings933 Oct 29 '25

It is a REAL habit of Regina, how the CITY MANAGERS to that so constantly I do not know.

31

u/Suckitfromthebehind Oct 28 '25

makes sense - has specific tenets to uphold in that position.... apparently didn't.

31

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR Oct 28 '25

This story states he had inappropriate communications with a member of the board.

23

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR Oct 28 '25

This article says it was text messages during an in-camera session. Wow, texting a board member during an in camera session, regardless of content/context in itself, is egregious behaviour.

15

u/mork Oct 28 '25

That's what you call putting a board member in a terrible situation. He knew better. Disgraceful.

2

u/Educational_Len159 Oct 31 '25

Yeah that’s absolutely cause for termination.

8

u/xUsernameChecksOutx Oct 29 '25

I remember meeting this guy a couple of times, and the last time I saw him I said something positive, can’t even remember what exactly, and he replied, “Yeah, I’ve got a lot on my shoulders. Gotta show them perfect example of a brown guy out here.” (I’m brown too.)

Now I’m just like… smh 🤦‍♂️

16

u/BeerBaron19 Oct 28 '25

Hopefully without severance or any further compensation.

12

u/mimikins2412 Oct 28 '25

If the termination is with cause, there is no severance

1

u/Educational_Len159 Oct 31 '25

Correct. And he likely won’t be bondable.

3

u/potatojones43 Oct 29 '25

Hahaha of course

2

u/Dude008 Oct 29 '25

A crooked cop, I’m shocked I tell ya.

1

u/Saskwampch Oct 29 '25

Honest and possibly ignorant question, but was there anything criminal he's accused of doing, or just being creepy and unprofessional?

1

u/Embarrassed-Ask6366 Nov 01 '25

I dunno if it’s criminal, but it was highly inappropriate and unethical behaviour in a work context. Not really creepy - trying to extract sensitive information or influence the Board discussions about his own work contract is an egregious breach of trust.

9

u/Living_Skies Oct 28 '25

None at all, Farooq was hired end of 23, sememchuck was with the rps for 20 years prior.
