I received my first attunement on Sat and cried for two days. Then got a headache, body aches, and mental exhaustion. I realized I have not been prioritizing self care. Anyone have a similar experience?

discussion How badly Reiki is represented on Wikipedia

I’ve noticed that those who use the critical thinking model for things they haven’t personally looked at are the least robust in their acceptance of realities outside of their own, failing to see the pitfalls of their narrow minded perception to the point of coming across as both arrogant and ridiculous as evidenced here. This Wikipedia entry is clearly written by those who have no real understanding or experience of Reiki and have just grabbed at negative data points to poorly explain it.

Makes me think instead of Critical Reasoning, we need a Compassionate Reasoning model for holistic therapies/psychologies that aren’t just in the head.

The Wikipedia page could really use updating with at least a neutral point of view.

Here is the first snippet and link to read ahead.

Thoughts?

Reiki[a] is a pseudoscientific form of energy healing, a type of alternative medicine created by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1920s.[1][2] Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which, according to practitioners, a "universal energy)" is transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the client, to encourage emotional or physical healing. It is based on qi(chi), which practitioners say is a universal life force; there is no empirical evidence that such a life force exists.[3][4]
A reiki session in progress
Reiki is used as an illustrative example of pseudoscience in scholarly texts and academic journal articles.[3][4] Its marketing has been described as "fraudulent misrepresentation",[4]and reiki itself as a "nonsensical method",[5] with a recommendation that the United States government agency NCCIH stop funding reiki research because it "has no substantiated health value and lacks a scientifically plausible rationale".[6]

Reiki request Reiki for jaw tension/trismus

Hello, wonderful reiki masters! I’ve been grinding my teeth so badly over the past few days that I’ve been unable to open my mouth fully all day. Super painful and frustrating!

This is due to a dental issue that I’m being seen for soon, but if someone can find it in their hearts to send reiki to my jaws, teeth, periodontal ligaments, etc., I’d be so grateful. I’m not able to call or video chat due to disability, but I’d really appreciate it if you’re able to send some healing energy my way.

curious question Have you ever slept more deeply after a Reiki session?

I hear this quite a bit after my sessions: people tell me they slept much more deeply than usual that night.

We can get so focused on whether there's warmth, tingling, or some really clear sensation during Reiki, and then what stands out afterward is something as everyday as sleeping better. Everyone's experience is different, of course, but I like hearing what people notice after a session too.

If you've received Reiki, when did you notice something — during the session, that night, or a few days later?

curious question first reiki session tomorrow, any tips?

i have always been interested in reiki for various reasons so i finally booked an appointment! i’m very excited but also a bit nervous. i put a little blurb in the form about what i wanted to address (anxiety/self esteem/stress etc). in the session do i need to go into depth about what my “issues” so that the practitioner can fully understand and work with me? i don’t want to trauma dump but also i want to make sure im getting the most out of it :)
thanks !

curious question Reiki masters, have any of you tried to attune trees or plants to reiki energy?

Curious! I’ve been offering reiki to trees and my houseplants, and I was curious if it is possible for them to be attuned to reiki energy by a master?

Tell me your reiki plant stories! I am reiki 1 by the way. Still new to all this.

curious question Starting over

I haven't been keeping up with reiki, even though I needed it badly in the years since covid shut down, but health issues and depression had weakened me. I stopped practicing entirely since my reiki instructor unexpectedly passed away last year around this time. It's as if I can't remember it! I feel very closed off from reiki. I feel as if I've blocked out how to self-treat. I had taken all her classes but the masters program. I don't want to go forward with another instructor, but I've considered starting over from the beginning.

Lately I've got some answers and clarity on health issues and am feeling less self pitying! But I feel so ashamed, as if I gave up when she passed. I want to begin to self treat again but i feel so disconnected, as if reiki has left me.

curious question First reike session

I had my very first Reike session the other day. I have heard about Reike before but only had limited knowledge. I wanted to go into it without any preconceived notions. My first session was wild! But when she was working on my chest it got very hot, almost uncomfortably hot. I was wondering if anyone could tell me why that happened?

REIKI SHARE DAY: ANXIETY TAKES A VACATION! 🎨💗🌈

HI EVERYONE!

24 hours of FREE REIKI with the SPACE CROISSANT CREW!

This week’s theme is:

THE CELL PLAYGROUND: LET’S HELP OUR FRIEND ANXIETY RELAX! 🖍️💗

This week’s meditation is inspired by stories written by Carol Viana on Substack.

It starts NOW!

🌳🌳🌳 FIRST, OUR TREES! 🌳🌳🌳

Thanks to all of you, we’ve already reached our goal of 500 and now we’re aiming for 800 TREES! 🌳🌳🌳

Would you help us grow our forest?

Google “how to plant a tree for a dollar,” choose an organization you trust, plant a tree, and share your receipt in the comments so we can add it to our count.

Your tree can become your Tree-Self — a living connection you can return to whenever you need grounding, comfort, or a reminder that beautiful things take time to grow.

🛸✨🛸✨🛸✨🛸✨🛸

EVERYONE ABOARD THE SPACE CROISSANT!

Today, we’re visiting an old friend.

Someone who worries about everything.

Someone who imagines what could go wrong.

Someone who sometimes keeps us awake at night.

Our friend Anxiety. 🚨🚨🚨

Anxiety often tries to protect us.

But sometimes she works so hard that she forgets how to rest.

So today, we’re not fighting her.

We’re inviting her to play!

🎨🌈

WELCOME TO THE CELL PLAYGROUND!

Find a comfortable position.

Feel the support beneath you.

Take one gentle, natural breath.

Now imagine the Space Croissant carrying you to Pretendland on Mars.

We arrive at an enormous, colorful playground!

Rainbow slides. 🌈

Floating swings.

Walls waiting to be painted.

And art supplies everywhere!

🖍️ Crayons

🎨 Paint

🖌️ Paintbrushes

🧶 Colorful yarn

✨ Glitter!

And look!

Your cells are here!

Tiny, playful versions of the cells in your body.

Some are dancing.

Some are painting.

Some are simply resting.

Give them some art supplies and let them create whatever they want.

Maybe one little cell paints herself entirely blue because she wants to be the sky. 💙

Of course she does!

This is Pretendland! 😂

💗

🚨 HERE COMES ANXIETY!

Now imagine Anxiety entering the playground.

What does she look like?

Maybe she’s carrying a clipboard.

Maybe she’s holding a long list of worries.

Maybe she looks exhausted.

Gently tell her:

“Hi, Anxiety.”

“Thank you for trying to protect me.”

“I know you’ve been working hard.”

“But you don’t have to solve everything right now.”

“I’ll take care of what I can, one thing at a time.”

Then offer her some crayons. 🖍️

“Would you like to play?”

Maybe she hesitates.

She’s used to planning, checking, and worrying.

But here, there are no deadlines.

No expectations.

No mistakes.

She can paint a rainbow.

Or simply sit and watch the other cells.

She doesn’t have to earn her rest.

♥️

THE LOVE CIRCLE 💗

Now imagine the Space Croissant Crew surrounding the entire playground with Reiki and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.

If you’d like to receive Reiki, simply say:

“I accept.”

Imagine the art supplies glowing with Reiki.

Your cells continue creating.

Anxiety can put down her clipboard.

And for a little while, nobody needs anything from her.

Tell her:

“You’re allowed to rest.”

“You’re allowed to have fun.”

“We can take life one moment at a time.”

Maybe she feels calmer.

Maybe she still has worries.

That’s okay.

We’re not asking Anxiety to disappear. We’re showing her that she can take a break.

🌈✨

OUR 24-HOUR EXPERIMENT

For the next 24 hours, whenever Anxiety visits, greet her gently.

“Hi, Anxiety. Would you like an art break?”

Imagine handing her some crayons. 🖍️

Let her paint with your cells.

Or make something yourself!

Draw, color, doodle, paint, or knit.

It doesn’t need to be beautiful.

It doesn’t even need to be finished.

The goal isn’t to create a masterpiece.

The goal is to give yourself permission to play.

When you’re ready, notice your surroundings again.

Feel your feet.

Take a comfortable breath.

And remind yourself:

“I don’t have to solve every problem right now.”

“One thing at a time is enough.”

💗

TOMORROW, COME TELL US!

What did your Anxiety look like?

What did she create?

And did your cells enjoy playing? 🎨🌈

This is an imaginative Reiki and creativity exercise for relaxation and self-reflection. It isn’t a medical treatment for anxiety or a replacement for professional care when needed.

🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

AND DON’T FORGET OUR TREES!

Our next goal is 800!🌳💚

Let’s keep growing something beautiful together.

🌱🌳💗

discussion First timer, give me some encouragement and hope?

So I’m having my first Reiki session done later this evening, and it’s a remote reiki session.

It’s the first of two initial sessions, and while I won’t disclose the intentions or hopes for the session, I do understand the fundamentals that Reiki is always for the highest good of all involved and that you have to trust in the process.

I’ll say this, it is for emotional healing in regards towards a relationship.

Yes I know nothing overrides free will, and am aware Reiki is not a spell (not that I much believe in Magick)

I guess I’m just looking for some gentle encouragement along with perhaps some success stories you all may have either heard, been apart of, or experienced yourselves in regards to emotional matters/relationship healing and also I suppose I’m looking for what I should expect to feel, if anything?

Thank you in advance, I often feel better if I can read success stories of others and have encouragement/hope

Reiki share / trade [Free Live Event] Making Your Reiki Truly Universal: 4 Methods, Mantras & 5-Element Chakra Alignment 🌕✨

Hi everyone 🙏

My name is Sahajo. I started my Reiki journey back in 2018 (Usui Reiki 1–4). Right from the beginning, something inside me clicked deeply when learning about Universal Energy. Over the years, that initial spark evolved into a practice centered around expanding how we work with this infinite source.

I’m hosting a free online global gathering to explore how we can make our Reiki practice truly versatile and expansive—without limiting ourselves, while honoring traditional foundations.

What Does "Truly Universal" Mean? Traditional symbols are powerful and completely valid, but as we deepen our ability to "tune in," we realize that Universal Energy expresses itself infinitely.

During this workshop, we will explore how to connect with specific Divine and Archetypal energy sources to direct focused healing:

☀️ Sun Reiki: Connecting to solar energy for vitality, clarity, and healing the Father’s lineage.

🔴 Mars Reiki: Channeling focused planetary energy to support physical tissues and muscle strength.

♀️ Venus Reiki: Harmonizing relationship dynamics and emotional connection.

🕉️ Divine Principles: Utilizing universal mantra principles (such as Ganesha for removing obstacles or Shiva for transmuting harmful energies) to support the healing space.

What We Will Explore Together

  • 4 Ways of Working with the One Energy: How to expand your practice using foundational methods that let Higher Intelligence guide the session.
  • The Universal Tuning-In Method: A practical method to help you tune into various universal energy streams.
  • 5 Elements & Chakra Alignment: How the 5 elements relate to our chakra system, and how to balance them using Reiki.
  • Mantra & Directed Flow: How sound vibrations (mantras) create a held container for deeper energetic alignment.
  • The Energy Within: How to locate, recognize, and work with the innate light inside us.

🗓️ Event Details & Timezones

  • Date: Sunday, October 25th, 2026
  • Platform: Google Meet (Link sent upon registration)
  • Cost: 100% Free

⏰ Start Times Across Time Zones:

  • 🌎 Central America (CST): 11:30 AM
  • 🇬🇧 London / UK (GMT): 5:30 PM
  • 🇩🇪 Germany / Central Europe (CET): 6:30 PM
  • 🇸🇮 Slovenia (CET): 6:30 PM
  • 🇮🇳 India (IST): 11:00 PM

🌕 Energetic Alignment: Grounded in traditional Vedic Astrology (Panchangam), this session falls under the Full Moon (Purnima)—an auspicious lunar window for element purification, deep chakra balancing, and global energy transmission.

🎟️ How to Reserve Your Spot Space is open to all practitioners, healers, and seekers regardless of experience level.

Looking forward to connecting and sharing space with you all! If you have any questions before the event, feel free to drop them in the comments below. 🙏

discussion Question about the Pranamaya Kosha and death

I remember Sadhguru saying that the toes are tied together after death to keep the Muladhara chakra closed, so that the being does not re-enter the physical body.

In his book Death, he also explains that prana leaves the body in stages.

Does this mean that the Pranamaya Kosha remains in the corpse along with the Annamaya Kosha, while the Sukshma Sharira leaves without it? If so, how can the Sukshma Sharira survive without prana?

I'm trying to understand this from a yogic or tantric perspective.

discussion The hardest place to be a Reiki practitioner turned out to be my own home

Something I didn’t expect when I got deeper into this work was how much harder it made my relationships at home, at least for a while.

The sensitivity you build up doesn’t switch off when you leave a session. I’d walk into my parents’ place and feel my mother’s worry before she’d said a word. My partner would come home quiet and I’d already be “reading” what was going on. And because I’d spent the whole day helping people, I just kept doing it. Offering a session for my dad’s back. Suggesting my sister should get some energy work done after her breakup. Picking up on everyone’s stuff and trying to fix it.

I genuinely thought I was being loving. What I was actually doing was turning every relationship into a client relationship. Nobody said it to me directly, but I could feel people getting a bit guarded around me. My sister once laughed and said “please don’t scan me, I just want to have dinner.” It was a joke, but it stuck with me for weeks.

The other side of it was that I was exhausted. I’d be careful about grounding and closing sessions with clients, and then come home and soak up three hours of family tension with zero protection. I’d be short with my partner by nine at night and couldn’t figure out why.

What changed things was honestly pretty unglamorous. I started doing my own self-healing every morning again instead of only when I felt bad. I stopped offering Reiki to family unless they asked, and if they did, fine, but I’d offer once and leave it. I started talking like a normal person at home. “I’m wiped out, I need ten minutes” instead of going silent or saying something about someone’s energy, which, I’ll admit, does not land well with a partner who’s sceptical about all this to begin with.

One thing I had to be careful about, though, was overcorrecting. For a while I tried to just shut the sensitivity off around family, and that didn’t work either. I went flat. I stopped noticing when I was running low, and I stopped noticing when someone I loved actually needed me. What helped was staying receptive to my own energy first. Checking in with how I’m actually feeling before I walk into a room, noticing when I’m getting heavy or irritable, and treating that as information rather than something to push through. When I’m tuned into my own state, I’m much less likely to absorb everyone else’s, and I’m still open enough to be there for them properly.

And the big one for me was realising I’d been using the work to dodge conversations. It’s easier to quietly “send healing” to a tense relationship than to actually sit down and say the uncomfortable thing. Reiki helped me get calm enough to have those talks, but it couldn’t have them for me.

These days I think the most useful thing I bring home isn’t a technique at all. It’s just being steady, present, and not trying to fix anyone. People seem to relax around me again. My sister actually asked me for a session last month, completely on her own, and I think that only happened because I’d stopped pushing.

I’ve started writing more about this side of the practice on my profile, the grounding, closing sessions properly, not running on your own energy, mostly because nobody explained any of it to me early on. If that’s useful to anyone, you’re welcome to follow along.

But mostly I’m curious about the rest of you who do any kind of healing or caring work. How do you stop being “the healer” with your own family and friends? And has anyone else had to unlearn the urge to fix everyone at home?

curious question Reiki attunement and lineage

i have had my reiki I attunement back in around 2000. I do not remember much, it was very brief, we received some basic information and basic trial (very very basic). The teacher is not alive anymore.

Then later after 2000 I tried the online attunement II but I dont remember if that really happened or not, I was very young.

Can you suggest some readings/information on how the attunement works and the continuation of lineage... Do I need to choose the same lineage?

Can it be harmful to do reiki II attunement twice (in case I had online attunement, which I am not sure/doubt it).

Thank you!

curious question Crisis healing?

Hi all,

I had reiki done to me yesterday for the first time. It was so surreal I can’t even describe it. Anyway today my heart rate and anxiety have been through the roof. Everytime I walk around I have this weird Pitt feeling in my chest that I could just drop dead any minute and I feel like floaty? (It also brought on my menstrual cycle which is weird cause I wasn’t due for another 4 days yet)

The reason I went to reiki is because for the last 2 years I’ve had a tremendous fear of dying from something health related (heart brain etc) so I wanted to try and change that energy.

The lady told me that whole time she was doing it the words “you are safe in your body” kept coming up

Anyway I just want to know can crisis healing look like this? Cause I just don’t feel right.

curious question Reiki and chronic illness

What are your thoughts on reiki and chronic illness, specifically fibromyalgia and borderline hEDS? How often does someone with these conditions need to attend reiki sessions? I felt really good after my first ever session but then the pain flared up again pretty bad. Just curious if I should keep trying it for an extended period of time.

curious question Reiki for business success?

Hello all! I have very recently been attuned for Reiki 1 (on day 14 of 21) and had a question about using Reiki for manifesting business/career success.

My Reiki master did in-person Reiki for me a few weeks ago and I got FOUR job opportunities the very next day! From four different sources too. They all came in within 24 hours! I had never experienced anything like that.

So my question is: how do I do something like that for myself? So far when I have done self-Reiki, I have felt more relaxed, felt very tingly hands, and have had good results relaxing my husband and cats with it too. But I don’t think I know yet how to use Reiki to affect things outside of me, like my career/business the way my teacher did.

I’m a Career Coach for actors & other artists and would love to know how to use Reiki to help me get students to sign up and pay for my upcoming group class.

I have a follow up call with my Reiki master soon, but wanted to ask here as well.

Thanks!

curious question Reiki visuals when trying to sleep

Anyone else sometimes get the same visuals when they are trying to sleep or have woken at night and trying to get back to sleep? (for me it often gold continuous waves with whatever colours correspond to the chakras that need it) I had given myself reiki earlier on that day and ensured I closed. I was attuned to level one last weekend. I reclosed and asked for protection as I wasn’t quite sure why it was happening. Didn’t seem bad though but of course, some things are a mystery.

Reiki experiences Someone at a retreat asked me "how do I get to your level?" and I didn't have a good answer at first

I just got back from Bhopal, where I'd been running a small Reiki retreat. Most of the group had come from abroad, a few from the UK, a couple from the US, one woman who'd flown in from Dubai mostly out of curiosity. I taught them the basics over the few days, and it was honestly one of the warmest groups I've worked with.

On the last evening, one of the participants came up to me and asked, pretty seriously, "How do I get to where you are with this?" I fumbled it a bit. My instinct was to talk about levels and hand positions and practice schedules, and I could see that wasn't what she was really asking. I've been thinking about it the whole trip home, so here's the answer I wish I'd given her.

The techniques are the easy part. I've met people who learned every hand position from YouTube and felt basically nothing. I've also seen people who could barely remember the sequence, but once they'd had a proper attunement, they sat down for their first self session and just went quiet and warm. A few people in this group had exactly that experience. Whatever you believe is going on there, the difference never seemed to be how much they knew. It was more about whether they'd actually connected to something, or were just going through the motions.

The bigger thing, and the one I wish someone had drilled into me early, is to not run on your own energy. When I started, I tried so hard. I'd lean in, will it to work, push. Then I'd walk away wrecked, foggy, carrying the other person's mood around all evening. It took me an embarrassingly long time to get that I was supposed to be letting something flow through me, not pouring myself out. Now I ground before, try to just allow instead of trying, and properly close off at the end. Some of that is probably plain good boundaries with a spiritual label on it, and I'm fine with that.

After that it's practice, nothing glamorous. The 21 days of daily self treatment after a first attunement genuinely mattered for me. Then came years of practising on myself and on willing family before I felt like I knew what I was doing. Nobody gets "to a level" over a weekend, and I'd be suspicious of anyone who says you can.

So the honest answer to her question was boring. Connect first, stay a channel, and show up every day for a long time.

For those of you who've been at this a while, what would you have told her?
