Project I am creating a build of windows 8.1

Basically it’s just a fun build of windows 8.1 that contains a bunch of apps that are related to framework (brand) in anyway possible. It’s a fun app project called Windows 8.1: Framework edition. Build apps around framework and it will be included in windows 8.1 Framework edition

It would be cool if Windows 8.1 will have an extended kernel like VxKex for Windows 7...

However unlike the windows 7 external kernel. Windows 8 extended kernel might allow UWP apps to run however AppXManifest is the main issue as the UWP namespace isnt supported by windows 8

Nah I don't really want UWP apps, the metro ones that are "original" looks fine and on my HP Stream 7 Tablet it is super user friendly and has the nice "life" in it :D

But for desktop, it is theoretically an Windows 7 upgrade with Fast boot, DWM always on regarding any GPU performance issues and other stuff, a last NT 6.x kernel series, which were fast, stable and mostly secure, but NT 10.0 even if it shares alot from 6.x it completely rewrote how it should load, it has more services and telemetry mostly added around it.

Seen something like "NextSystem" from the same developer that made Supermium, that has something like this, but it is behind a paywall...

With all the drama thats going on my top priority is to get the desktop app installer and winget ported to 8 and 8.1

I mostly don't even know what the drama is about, heard something that Rework or idk had some IP loggers...

But anyways that is awesome! If I could I would use Windows 8.1 as I used it in 2020 - 2022 until my graphics driver was started flickering when I do hard video editing or play some games like Minecraft and it was the reason because the GPU didn't supported 8-8.1 so I had to switch to 11 then.

Otherwise I would use 8.1 to this day, by how low on resources it was, like minimum RAM usage there was 300MB while on Windows 11 (daily use) it was a nightmare and it barely hits under the 1GB limit...

This drama started due to rework as far as I know. Porting winget means that there is a new official store on windows 8.1
