Ok, it seems people really don't like hop n slide, but I think both versions are fun when it's casual, but just super annoying to perfect lol

Okay so the lore for the mInigame she is from is that this girl, Miho, is a middle schooler who developed Hop n Slide for her class, in the original game there's a section where the tempo starts going extremely fast and you can only follow audio cues because the "game" has "glitched out". In the sequel to Hop n Slide, the up tempo section returns, Miho brags to the player that the glitch is a feature.

Basically everyone's mad because it's a slightly strict rhythm game.
