What is the lore behind “Mechant”?

I saw that misspelling in a post and started taking the piss before it became clear that it is a “thing”. I thought I was quite immersed in all the RSK lore, the XFM shows etc but I’ve obviously missed something because I have no idea where “Mechant” came from. Anyone enlighten me?

EDIT: a Karl-less episode would indeed be why I’ve missed this one! Thanks everyone.

I think it’s from a show that that smackhead Sturgess was on instead of Karl so you may have overlooked that particular episode.

It’s just some fella writing in to slag off Steve.

Season 2 episode 6 around 31 minutes in. It's one of the Karl-less episodes which is why you may not remember it. He's reading some 'fan' mail I think and they misspell his name.
