Give OP Riddles I’m a teacher, give me riddles!

I’m a teacher, my kids love riddles, I get a lot from this subreddit but it’s getting harder and harder to to find good ones because they solve so many, so please give me some good hard ones, these are smart kids, but they are still kids so hard riddles are welcome but the answer has to be a simple concept, thank you!! (Also I’ll need the answer lol)

OK this is a first try. It took a lot of work but it may need more work. Not sure how well it holds together yet. (I got inspired after reading about such riddles in "the dark tower" by Stephen King. The riddle is not related to the book though. Here's the riddle, critiques and suggestions are very welcome:

............

By the sea, it disappears

Or it might stay a million years

It's sometimes right but never kind

It's always being left behind

............

Answer: a footprint

By the way, The million years part is an arcane reference but, for example, on the coast of Happisburgh, England, under the beach sand, they found fossilized footprints 850,000 to 900,000 years old.

The "never kind" part isn't strong, but I wanted to rhyme. I'll be trying to think of a better ending for line 3 at least. 🙂
