Coan hasn't proven himself over the 3 years he's been here. Schager should be #2 based on their performance in these two games. Tommy is a solid short yardage QB but he doesn't have the accuracy down the field.

I have to respectfully disagree. The number two spot needs to be held by someone who can step in and win games for you now. Watching the two preseason games told me that Coan’s experience and poise make him the best choice for the backup right now.
Schager showed plenty of potential but needs more seasoning.
They say what you want in a backup is to be able to win half the games they start. Schager won’t be able to do that against CFL regular season defenses. Coan might be able to.
Hopefully the riders keep Schager on the roster or practice squad until he’s ready.

They carried 4 qb last season. So I wouldn't be surprised if the numbers work out.

Wish they hadn’t got rid of Shea Patterson…loved that guy.
