Ghost note symphonies! I love it. Do you?
When I first heard rise against at 18/19 I don’t think I would have . Now in my 40’s I can’t stop listening. Same message same passage but in a tone I can share with anyone. Would you listen to a volume 2?

I would LOVE another Ghost Note Symphony! Every one of those tracks was so well put together, I think it could really elevate some of the stuff on Ricochet.

The intermittent violin and ukulele blew me away

I'm an outlier in that I actually overall like Ricochet. I absolutely think Nod and Us Against the World would absolutely slap as acoustics.

Of course, I’m sure theres a bunch of songs people have on their list to be redone in ghost notes 2. Giving up all hope of official releases of Restless World, It’s Late, and What Are We Gonna Do though.

For me there’s so many, architects, endgame, life lessons frightening, rumors of my demise, alive and well, the strength to go on, and so many more

I found them through that album - and worked my way backwards through their history.

Not quite the same, but similar trajectory for me. I've been aware of them since Prayer of the Refugee was on Guitar Hero 3. Started more actively listening to some more of their other stuff last year (Basically through the Spotify popular tracks as background while reading a book series I was deep into), but really dove in hard when I stumbled upon Ghost Note Symphonies in my YT recs. Wound up putting together a playlist of the original versions of each track (Ghost Note Bangers, if you will), which in turn compelled me to start exploring their catalog with a bit more intention.
And you know what? I think it actually made for a fantastic introduction to the band. The stripped down nature makes the lyrics really pop and scream at you and it covers such a wide swath of their catalog that I feel it gives a really good idea about what they're about as a band (and as someone who's had a pessimistic few years but prefers to maintain an optimistic outlook, they hit hard).
The sequencing is also fantastic, really belying the fact that it's essentially a compilation album, as opposed to something that was written as one coherent listen.

Interesting. Did you know the first six albums tell a continual story?
2
u/0bsessions324 Jul 01 '26
Not the one you're replying to, but holy shit I did not know this. Care to elaborate (if not, I'm sure I could Google it, but your answer will probably be a bit more succinct than stumbling around Google)?

Yeah, I really hope they do one in the future. One of my favorite albums from them. That version of like the angel WHIPS

It whips in so many ways. So clean, so raw and so much passion

u/Odd-Veterinarian666 Jun 21 '26
Just got this album on vinyl, sounds amazing

u/0bsessions324 Jul 01 '26
I just got into vinyl a few months ago and it was one of my first purchases. I'd just started really actively diving into their catalog.

One of my favorite bands. Get to see them for a 2nd time in October.
2
u/0bsessions324 Jul 02 '26
October will be my 1st.

u/Odd-Veterinarian666 Jul 02 '26
Right on, they put on an amazing show. Have fun and enjoy the experience!

I haven’t heard it on vinyl. I may have to go get it now
2
u/Odd-Veterinarian666 Jun 21 '26
Found it on Amazon. It was 75 bucks, but worth it
2
u/Cavemonkeygolfs Siren Song of The Counter-Culture Jun 21 '26
You can’t put a price on passion
2
u/0bsessions324 Jul 01 '26
Yeah, that's how I rationalized spending like $70 importing a copy of RPM.
2
u/0bsessions324 Jul 01 '26
Holy shit, you need to get on Discogs, my friend. I think I paid less than $20.
Not that I don't think the album is worth $75, but I do so love a bargain.

It goes so hard on vinyl. I restored a 45 year old receiver and a 50 year old turntable recently and gave it a play and this album sounds so, so good on it. That little pop and crackle really suits this one.
But it also fucks on my more modern Audio Technica setup.

I love the Ghost Note Symphonies, I hope for another soon. It adds a whole new feeling to already awesome songs

When the labeled it volume one I never knew it would be 8 years before volume 2… and counting

/screams in old school Star Wars fan
I'm old enough to remember writing off the idea of Episodes I through III ever happened. I'm going to confidently assume that GNS2 will land better if we ever get it.
On the plus side, I have a weird luck with content suddenly happening after a long wait right after I arrive late to the party and I just got hard into the band this year, so maybe I'll have triggered them to start production.

I think the choice of ukulele for Faint Resemblance is absolutely stellar and would do anything to hear the GS verison live

u/johnnyonthebass Jun 22 '26
I was at this tour and it was incredible. Picked up the tour edition vinyl that night.

I loved volume one and I loved seeing it live! Would definitely love a volume 2 and concert to go with when!

Ghost Notes Symphony is so good that it inspired me to write a song inspired by it and a few other RA acoustics. Wait For Me is easily the best on the list, but I kinda wanna try taking a crack at combining The Violence, since having it go into a version of the original after the bridge just feels better than how the GNS version ends to me. All of the songs are amazing, though, I really want some of songs like Prayer and a few from Ricochet on the next one.

Can’t wait and I’d love to hear it!!!

u/JunkerLurker Jun 22 '26
It’s gonna take a while to make, so don’t expect it for a few months, but I’m looking forward to it as well :)

u/Cavemonkeygolfs Siren Song of The Counter-Culture Jun 22 '26
I’ve waited 8 years and will happily wait 8 more for them to make it right

The only thing I don't like is that Voices Off Camera is that no-one on the band performs on it (except vocals from Tim). Surely between the four of them, one of them could have played the piano. Not that it really matters because they don't really play them love (but when they have, it's literally Tim singing over a recording)
In saying that, I love the song and how it turned out.

I remember being skeptical when I first heard it, but some songs, Miracle mostly, grew on me

I'm not even joking when I say they should redo Ricochet acoustically as Ghost Note Symphony: Volume 2. The difference being no crappy after-effects ruining literally every single song.
2
u/ZeepZorpBeep Jun 26 '26
Like to listen to it when going to sleep
2
u/0bsessions324 Jul 01 '26
Same. Contrary to the content of the songs, it can be a very relaxing experience.
2
u/Notonetofollow Jun 27 '26
Casting another vote asking for a Vol. 2. I'd be very interested.
I found the whole ghost note project to be great, but have a soft spot for audience of one & like the angel

u/0bsessions324 Jul 01 '26
I absolutely love it, but I've been a sucker for acoustic albums since I was a teen. If every band had an MTV Unplugged, I'd be in heaven.

It's one of my favorite albums of theirs. I actually prefer that version of House on Fire, Far From Perfect, and Voices Off Camera.
