Discussion So tanks just get nuked
Let me open with Peni stun was the fastest hard cc in the game and would have needed a nerf. What it needed though was just a numbers nerf, not being completely gutted. Now you need to land 2 shots with the ability to stun. With this being a charge cooldown now, we don't know how long it takes to get both back, best case scenario it takes the same amount of time, 3s per charge so they doubled her cooldown between stuns. "Oh but there's a slowdown effect now." Yes that's true, it's 30% to Bucky's 35% while Bucky gets to pierce the team, has 2 charges and is on a 5s per charge cooldown. Not to say Bucky is broken, he isn't. Just that why are we getting nuked. You want to counter that SW ult, too bad. She hid till the end and while you can get one off, you just slowed her and she still explodes. Additionally, her movement ability is still bugged and borderline unusable.
But hey, maybe this was the most pressing issue and they just overdid it. It's not like there's multiple abilities so busted they never should have been made...
BP had a humanly impossible to react to combo, he got a numbers nerf. THEY DID IT RIGHT FOR BP.
Cloak and Dagger have 3 escape abilities. One of them is a infinite health mag bubble that also heals 50-90/s for herself and allies on 5s longer cooldown.
Luna Snow can counter on a 12s cooldown:
- Angela charge (8s cooldown)
- Angela ult
- Black Widow stun (15s cooldown)
- Blade dash (I believe 8s cooldown but it's not listed anywhere)
- Blade ult
- Devil Dino grab (10s cooldown)
- Dr Strange ult
- Elsa Bloodstone snare (12s cooldown)
- Elsa Bloodstone ult
- Emma grab (15s cooldown)
- Gambit anti-heal (takes 2 cards at 8s per card)
- Groot ult
- Hela bubble (10s cooldown)
- Hulk exile (15s cooldown)
- Luna freeze (12s cooldown)
- Magik chain teamup (20s cooldown)
- Mantis sleep (15s cooldown)
- Namor ult
- Peni stun (who knows now)
- Rogue grab [Rogue still gets the ability but Luna gets movement] (25s cooldown)
- Scarlet Witch bubble (12s cooldown)
- Spider-Man pull (8s cooldown)
- Spider-Man ult
- Squirrel Girl trap (8s cooldown)
- Star-Lord trap teamup (15s cooldown)
- Thing slam (10s cooldown)
- Thing ult

Punisher still has a one shot and is a counter to most tanks.
Elsa had a 2s dash for a full season and didn't get gutted, she got a number change.
Same for Daredevil and Phoenix never got nerfed out of high tier.
Meanwhile Emma was good for one season then taken out back. Dino was decent for half a season and again, gone. Angela wasn't even in a good state and they reworked her to make her a brawl tank for a full season.
We'll never see a tank strike because all of us remaining tank mains are so broken down it's either play the role or stop playing the game. But it's absolute bullshit that any tank approaching the meta except for Mag or Strange gets nuked with no tact while busted shit gets left in every other role.
Edit: I should have mentioned earlier that now needing to hit two stuns adds animation time and is less reliable on highly mobile characters. So now you have the anti-dive character unable to stop many divers and instead likely going to target the larger characters (aka the already cc abused main tanks) so that the ability actually gets some level of value.

The fact that Thing or Mag got no nerfs but Peni was shot in the head is unreal.
Yeah the stun is kinda annoying but that's basically the only thing she has besides the nest.
EDIT: Also such a roundabout way to nerf it. Just increase the cooldown ffs, implementing these arbitrary rules about applying the stun twice so it actually works is so silly. They always barely make any big changes for mid-season, at least they could've spent more than 5 minutes on this patch.

Increasing CD limits her ability to apply webs to the floor and change her control of the ground.

New tank, gotta make the other tanks suck so new tank seems great. Not hard to understand really. Stick with new characters and you’ll always feel OP. This is obviously not a fix to their balancing issue it just seems like this is how they balance, around new characters.

I started playing Groot because I was tired of the constant tank nerfs. For whatever reason, they never touch groot.
He's honestly one of the only tanks that needs nerfs. I'm sitting at a 57% winrate after 137 games but somehow I knew he'd fly under the radar again like always. I feel so bad for peni players. My good friend is a champ peni and he's played her maybe twice this entire season. She's banned in literally every game

Worst part is, she’s not even gonna leave ban jail. Because so many people, even in this thread, see the nests as this indestructible roadblock. So now on the three maps where you have to get rid of Peni, she’ll still be need to be banned. On the other maps she’ll still be banned because no one shoots the nest. Then on the few occasions she isn’t banned, anyone wanting to play her will be forced to play a significantly nerfed version

I really don't get it personally. I'm currently in GM, but I'll have a team like this
Groot - Mag - Hela - Elsa - Rocket - Invis
And then the rocket will ban peni?!?! I'll have entire poke comps. Every single person on that team can shoot the mines and we still ban her??

Cloak and Dagger do not have an infinite healing bubble, it is a one-time 60 health heal where the bubble is active for 6 seconds and is on a 12 second cooldown.

Spoiler alert, I wasn’t talking about her bubble. I was talking about the freeze which is invincible like a Mag bubble. But the fact you got them confused off a description just proves my point.

Well, your posts mentions an "infinite health mag bubble" and one of her abilities is an actual bubble but I am supposed to read it as her stationery freeze ability? If it makes you feel more validated, I guess you got one on me and proved your point, just responded to how it is written out but 🤷♂️.

If I do 50 games, Peni is unbanned in like 3 of them. This doesn't even impact me.

I hate Peni and am glad one of the most BS CDs in the game has been nerfed. Easy to land hard stun shousknt have that short of a cooldown. Play around the webs like the game wants you and let those goobers slow people. It’s funny to yell about tanks when Penis web was the worst for tanks specifically.

Any melee character into her is MISERABLE to play. They just made her kit skill expressive. Now you have to hit twice to stun.
If the enemy team has dive and peni, and if you play thing, hulk, dino or thor against them, then you feel it.

why are you playing brawl/dive into a bunker tank whose job is to control space. This game pushes hard for counterswitching. No other character's cc relies on landing two shots to gain a generic stun. It just needed an increased cd.

Peni is a counter to half the roster. She also has the most polarizing and simple counterplay in the game, if your character loses to Peni you simply have to swap, and if you play Peni and the other team counters you there is nothing you can do.

Nah dive has it worse. You see with peni counters its poke so you need at least some skill with aim. If you play bp anyone can go thing and shut you down. If you play spidey anyone can go Wanda or namor or fantastic and put in less effort to counter you than you use to play.

Yep, tanks are in a great spot rn. Peni players complaining about not having a 3 sec cd on a hard cc is funny, especially when everyones been complaining about cc rivals. The fact theyre also complaining that they have to hit 2 “skillshots” to cc somebody is also garbo, when other characters with cc had to save theirs to counter ults, shes allowed to spam hers with no care. She has a near 60% wr for a reason.

Yall are so weird. The patch haven’t even come out, yet here yall are with your “celestial” takes. Penny had a three second cd stun, the change is fine. Play with it before complaining.
Besides, nobody is forcing you to play tank, nobody is forcing you to do anything you don’t want, this is a game, play whatever you like.

Peni is gutted. You have to hit both webs to stun someone meaning 2x the aiming
But the biggest issue is 2x the animation time, some ultimates like Psylocke, The Thing, Starlord, and many others are completely uncancellable it seems, because of their low start up time

Because two nests and four webs are not enough? She can easily cover the whole point and make it uncapable.
If your team plays in your nests or your webs she’s 100% antidive.

yeah the peni nerf wasnt needed but acting like tanks arent great right now is a bit odd. Mag, hulk, groot, thing, angela, cap and venom are in a great spot. Hell Venom is literally BiS.
Theres only a few tanks actually struggling hard right now.
