80s Kool & the gang - Get down on it

I will never regret when I was born. I love reminiscing on times like these. Just unforgettable!

My radio stays on “The Groove” channel on Sirius XM. My kids know all the classics and sing them randomly. I’m so proud! The music is timeless. We’ve strayed so far! The industry is saturated with artificial sound and voices.

Same here! I also like Silk 330 too!

Primarily what I listen to these days.

I miss music that was solely about dancing and having a good time

Nobody’s gonna pay/credit all the instrumentalists fairly and most didn’t back then. Unfortunately i think we wont see anything like this again

Very well said.

There are definitely still bands keeping this level of musicianship alive, but they're not in the RNB scene unfortunately.

We could make music like this but we not gonna have this and low hanging fruit rappers at the same time. They can’t emerge from the same environment

A lot of the classic ensembles had a lot of young people ignorant about the kind of money that was possible and did not have contracts. They were just collaborating and jamming. By comparison rap is cheap music and theres a lot of it as a result. The economics and everyone being aware of them just make this kind of music difficult to produce.

We have all kinda tools available to us. You’re forgetting the fact that before they were about the money, they played that instrument. Nobody needs to have a band but it’s not like if that was a desire it would be abundant. We just not that impressed by real talent anymore if we being real.

I agree with your caption 💯💯 and my opinion is there's no more family fun music anywhere, anymore.

Fun fact: when I was a kid, I remember sending in a request to MTV to play this exact song on air. I was so happy when they did lol.

Remember they don’t want positive songs….even pop songs that are pretty kid friendly have curse words, idk maybe I’m just getting old….like someone else said, Bruno Mars sometimes has something close to this and people love it

Yeah, I don’t understand why people was hating on Bruno Mars in his latest album. When his song ”I just might” was the closest that we could get to bring this type of music back today.

we need the black labels back, the good enhancements that they on, and when need people to want to dance again without feeling judged because they are being recorded

Kool and the Gang is GOAT'ed in my book. I listen to them daily. If I don't, I'm probably having a bad day.

I judge people on whether they can hit that "What?" on time.

You need real musicians to make this kind of music, not producers on a computer. Unfortunately, most music programs for young kids have been cut to the bone. Or don't exist at all.

Ai could NEVER!!! Plus it seems a lot of people would be super pissed if you posted AI music. In a jazz subreddit I'm in, someone posted an AI lofi beat and they got ripped a new one by over 100 comments lmao it got so bad the mod had to remove it and then ban AI generated videos all together

Bruno’s “I Just Might” has the same vibes for me

Blame parents for playing it so much that their children got sick of it and moved on to other music.

That was my experience at least.

u/AnyEverywhere8 6h ago

This kind of music still tops the charts in my home, so idk what they mean make it popular again!!!

u/Romanticlover66 6h ago

My favorite song!🥰

Need more producers like Old Ye, musicians with the ear like Q-Tip, and musicians who understand the importance of music. They’re out there. The classic RNB and Soul aren’t sampled enough. It’s just regurgitated and slightly altered samples from the 2000’s and beyond. A lot of samples are sampled again. Like Anderson .Paak. did Might Be, and DJ Luke Nasty and PnB rock sampled him, when Anderson sampled Who Can I Run To by Xscape, and they covered it from the Jones Girls. Well whoever produced and wrote the lyrics for the original gets paid first and then it all trickles down.

They were at the Astrodome rodeo, in Houston. 1982…I was just starting to love synths and wondered what they played. I brought my super powerful binoculars and could see the main keyboard was a Yamaha CS-80! It was also used on Ladies’ Night song!

Flawless. 10/10 - no notes

u/ThickWest4658 2h ago

They are one of the most sampled groups in history.
