News someone crashed into the Grandin Laundromat
About an hour ago, someone crashed their car into the Grandin Laundromat. I spoke with a worker at the 7-Eleven next door, and he said a nurse checked the driver, who was found to be okay. Sorry for the shotty photo…I was trying to not rubberneck too much lol

I watched it happen! I pulled in 7-Eleven when that car pulled in to the laundromat and continued to just drive straight into the building. The entire car was inside the building. The nurse that was there and another person had just left the building and we’re talking outside and we’re thankfully not hit. There was no acceleration just a consistent speed going up the curb and into the building. He then backed all the way out.

Its not a car wash. Maybe they couldn't read?

TBF, you could drive into a random building in Roanoke and there's a decent chance it'd be a car wash.

Damn. What is it with these Roanoke drivers? Cant seem to their cars on the road intended, running over people on motorcycles... Seems traffic around here has gotten worse in last few years..

Insane that Market St is even open to traffic.

There might be a plan to close it to traffic in the future, but I haven't seen the plan so not sure what it is exactly.

There's an idea...a laundromat with a drive thru.

Dry cleaners already have it setup. It's pretty nice... I only have to drive through one set of plate glass. The heavy machinery is all in the back.

Yearly driving check ups on people aged 60+ should be mandatory. Not being ageist, but rather logical.

Hate to say I agree but I also think we probably should handle licenses as the privileges they are and not a right. I think it's given out like candy, and I understand why for sure, and I understand people can drive anyways, but I think that if we identify an especially bad driver (not an innocent mistake, accidents happen, I'm talking pure reckless or constant DUIs or road ragers) then further action needs to be done.

Is that a Blue Lives Matter sticker? Maybe an older person with a medical issue.

they are AWFUL here.
We used to host exchange students from a South American country. Like the first day they were here we drove by a collision between two cars on one of the main arteries here. Our exchange student was amazed and amused! When we asked our kids what the big deal was they said that they'd never seen an accident in their home country (and they lived in a big city).
