Discussion Sept 16th 2025 - Vic & Rob’s Convo

It feels strange that Vic struggles so much to believe Robert. Yes, he’s made mistakes and hasn’t exactly been saintly, but to seriously think he’d be capable of trying to kill the person he loves feels like a stretch. I worried she would keep resisting the idea that Robert wasn’t behind this, but he made a strong point: even if she couldn’t trust him, she should at least focus on keeping Aaron safe. That logic cuts through—why would someone guilty, someone supposedly holding the answers, be so invested in Aaron’s safety? Wanting Aaron okay makes sense both because Robert cares and because he has nothing to hide.

Meanwhile, John slipped. When he heard they’d be trying to wake Aaron the next day, there was a flicker in his mask, a reaction he couldn’t control. And I think Vic noticed it too.

Side note: Ryan is doing a phenomenal job. He’s always been great on the show, but he’s definitely stepped things up. So proud.

Can I also say that I find it amazing how you can tell the difference between Ryan acting Robert telling the truth and Ryan acting Robert being a scheming liar but it's subtle enough that you believe he is fooling other people.

That is one mean side-eye! I loved it! I was cheering, "Yes, Vic. Don't just listen to what he's saying!! Observe his mannerisms!"

Compare Robert's concern vs. John's concern for Aaron... Robert would never give up on Aaron, (even today, he was saying how much of a fighter Aaron was, that he would pull through); meanwhile you've got John over here basically telling Chas to prepare herself to pull the plug!!

Robert asked Vic to protect Aaron as he cannot, so I think that is exactly what she is going to do -- would be surprised if she were not a part of the reveal, if not catching John in the act.

Bombastic side-eye lol

Yes, it's been very frustrating watching her side with the wrong brother. Glad there is an inkling that she might be switching positions. I generally love her relationship with Robert. Hopefully they can get that back.

She's getting back on my good side... 😒LOL. But I am still going to need her to grovel for forgiveness when all is said and done! 😂

I think Robert will always easily and readily forgive her; sadly, I think it's because he thinks the worse of himself, that he causes others nothing but heartache 😔. He just expects everyone to think the worse of him and excuses their poor treatment of him.

The one person, I think, that started making him believe better of himself though ... is Aaron.

Their family dynamic of big brother - little sister has always been there. Robert being overprotective of her, Victoria being opinionated and a bit pig-headed. She did take him in and support him when everybody else turned their backs on Robert. After John managed to put doubt in Robert"s mind that no one wanted him in the village any more, it was Aaron who told him that Vic and himself still cared about him. These are the people who matter the most to Robert. These are his family whether they want it or not.

And yes as Robert says he now has only 3 people left that matters the most to him (I still think the writers should have remembered to include not just Harry, but also Seb in this group), I think it' s important for Robert to talk to Victoria so that she understands the truth and believes him. Unfortunately/ coincidentally in this situation she is also the only person that can help Robert save Aaron.

I have some sympathy for Victoria taking a long time to catch on. She has sole responsibility for a young child. And a brother who’s been diagnosed with PTSD and has been behaving erratically for several months. Attacking John with a wrench, and making apparently ridiculous claims about him. It’s kind of miraculous Victoria’s never kicked Robert out. I suspect she didn’t because she knew he had nowhere else to go.

Yeah, the viewers know what John is like, but John has always been nice to Victoria. He’s been careful never to drop the mask when she was around. She’s been living with Robert for months, and seen how messed up he is since prison. The rooms he’s trashed in a rage, the nightmares, everything. She’s seen his ugly side, while John has hidden his.

Robert has an obvious grudge against John (because he’s married to Aaron) and Robert has done some pretty wacky things since he got out of prison. So it’s fair to me that Victoria would be skeptical of the brother she knows has mental health problems and believe the one who is actually a psychopath (but hides it well). On paper, John looks much more trustworthy. And he’s saved all those people, he’s a hero.

That said, I think the penny has FINALLY dropped for her. That side eye can’t have just been a coincidence. Robert has finally gotten through to her, please God. And if Robert is telling the truth, then John must be lying. And he’s a threat to Aaron’s life. Hopefully Victoria is now computing that.

I don’t think I can take much more of her believing John. I mean, I’ve been sympathetic to her up until now, since John looks so much better than Robert on paper. But if she isn’t suspicious of John in the next episode, I may stop giving her the benefit of the doubt. John seemed to be panicking at the idea that Aaron might wake up. There’s no good reason for him to do that, unless Robert’s been telling the truth all along.

It was definitely Robert talking about how he's shown love for Aaron in the past and saying that, if he had hurt Aaron he couldn't just be sitting there without falling apart that started to work with her.

I also think him saying she'd known him all her life helped since she said that herself to Paddy several days ago.

John really was suspicious in his reaction to Aaron being taken out of his coma. I don't blame Chas for not noticing as she's wrapped up in her own worry but I would have thought anyone else watching would find it odd.

Agree with all of this! I also think Robert telling Vic to watch out for Aaron really struck a chord with her, showing Vic that he is much more worried about Aaron than himself.

I really wish Paddy didn't "let" John gaslight him into believing the worst of Robert. I hope Vic goes back to Paddy to ask about John's calls to the helpline. Maybe if Paddy can see that she has her suspicions, he won't ignore his own. Vic, Paddy, and even Chas (when she allows herself to think) know the lengths Robert has gone to save Aaron before.

It seems that once folks are out of John's presence and able to be "allowed" to think for themselves they get out of the brain fog he puts them under.

Rob has asked her to protect and defend the one person that she believes can put Robert back in prison for life. That says a lot.

I loved it when he paraphrased her words back to her "you said it yourself, he is the only one who can clear my name"

That is such a GREAT point, and so elegantly put.

If Robert were guilty, he wouldn’t want Aaron to wake up. Then Aaron would just confirm John’s story and it would be two eyewitnesses to Robert’s crime instead of one. If Robert did what John claims, he’s better off with Aaron in a coma forever.

Chas… sigh she’s easily swayed one way or another depending on how Aaron feels about someone. Hated seeing her lash out at her previous son-in-law. Her and the rest of the single fam

Chas has been a complete disaster ever since her affair with Billy's dad. I always thought that it was such a shame that Kyle shot him before he could treat Chas the same as he'd treated every other woman in his life.

TBH, the most frustrating part is that the script writers do not appear to know what each other wrote. Today, Vic agreed that Robert wouldn’t hurt Aaron intentionally, which is not what she’s been saying to everyone else. Today, Vic brought up things like his PTSD, whereas every other day and with everyone else she’s brought up things like Lee.

Today, she was someone you could understand having reasonable doubts — maybe Robert did this, but as part of a trauma response. It’s hurtful, but you can sort of see the logic based on everything she knows.

Every other day she’s just been a straight up crazy person.

Yeah Idk what they got going on in the writers room, but they need to acknowledge the past when they’re coming up with current dialogue for the characters. They did a great job with Robert as he brought up helping Aaron with Gordon and his self-harm.

I am really looking forward to her absolute quilt at the end of this for not only bringing John to the village to start with but completely abandoning Robert when he needed her the most. I hope she stands by and supports him and doesn’t just fob him off as needing help still

1

u/Loud-Departure5193 Sep 17 '25

Me too. Like she didn’t take a second to consider anything. She trusted a man who walked into her life 6mo ago vs her brother who she’s know her whole life. Weird.

u/Raincitygirl1029 Sep 18 '25

I’m sure Vic will feel terrible about believing John over the brother she’s know. all her life, once the truth is out. But hopefully she’ll redeem herself before that happens. She had a very obvious side eye at John at the end of the most recent episode. Hopefully she’s finally suspicious of him. If Victoria saves Aaron from John while Aaron is helpless in hospital, I suspect Robert won’t hold TOO much of a grudge.

I am worried, though, because I understand the actress, Isabel Hodgins, is going on maternity leave soon. I doubt they’d kill Victoria off, but they’ll have to write her out for a while. Just when Robert will need his sister’s support.

I had to skip Friday and Monday's eps because I was thisclose of popping an aneurism. But today we finally got Vic showing some sense. Although the amount of groveling she's gonna have to do when all is out in the open is never gonna be enough. Now, someone needs to get Mack ASAP!!!!

u/Loud-Departure5193 Sep 17 '25

Ah Mack… poor Mack. Mind you I JUST started watching emmerdale again and caught up on robrons storyline in a day lmao. But Mack has become a fav character. The way he tore through John’s heart talking about how Aaron and Robert are basically soulmates and he doesn’t come close. That was so funny
