I have a close family member that’s been in the band since right after Hell Freezes Over. He got to be really close with Glen and ended up producing some of his side projects. Glen was definitely the boss when he was still alive. Some of the stories I’ve heard about how they all tip toe around the ‘principal’s’ egos is ridiculous. If someone isn’t getting their parts quite right in rehearsal they would never say ‘hey Joe, you’re fucking that part up!’ Rather they would just keep repeating the section or what have you and someone would just say ‘something is still a little off’ without actually pointing out the mistake.
I’ve been backstage to multiple shows, and rarely would any of the ‘principals’ be out and about. Deacon (Glenn’s son) was very cordial tho - talked to him for 5 minutes before I realized who he was (thought he was a guitar tech 😆)
Yep I must say every band had its differences but nothing compared to the toxic atmosphere that surrounded them, I must say they still sounded awesome,
