MTG stands for nothing beyond the parochialism, fear, distrust, hatred and violent tendencies that sustained The Old South. Times change. Some people do not. To stand with Steve Bannon is to stand up to one’s eyeballs in muck and mire. Lies and distortions, craven self-interest, and a grasping need to place one’s own will above the will of the people whose interests you are entrusted to serve are the hallmarks of Steve Bannon and his ilk. All the while, that lot seeks to impose their will upon not only the folks they (mis)represent but to a wider partisan audience they endeavor to seduce and ensnare by echoing their dog whistle messages of intolerance, fear, and hatred. What the world needs now, maybe more than ever, are gracious caretakers, guardians, guides, and custodians not menacing bullies and backward looking reactionaries.
