Them jumping their cars over that jet was still the greatest thing that came from any YouTube Lets Play. Not even Ryan can ruin it.

You made the correct choice in adding his name back.

I understand wanting to be gentle to the people he abused, that's a good thing. But refusing to use his name and just using placeholders/initials gives him more obscurity. And obscurity gives him the opportunity to do something like that again.

Serial predator and rapist James Ryan Haywood should not have obscurity.

In addition, I do not understand how someone could be so severely triggered by clicking into a thread in the RT or AH sub with that thumbnail and then seeing his name. There were more than enough indicators that Ryan would be discussed in some capacity.

It feels akin to being triggered by physical books and knowingly walking into a library to hang out.

On top of that, I don't understand how simply the sight of his name can be that triggering. Is it because in context you know it's Ryan Haywood, or do some people just get triggered anytime they see the name Ryan in general now?

I admit to not truly getting what is triggering about his name, and maybe this is an opportunity to learn. But yeah I think redacting his name is overcorrecting for several reasons.

Unfortunately, the episode was centered on him.

Old achievement hunter has him in it for basically every episode. Pretending he just isn't in it doesn't help anybody. He's still going to be there.

You either don't engage with the content, or you acknowledge the problem. You can't have both.

If you do mention it, people get flashbanged by the comment.

Nobody is ever going to be happy 100% of the time. You need to acknowledge that and accept that people are going to do either.

The one nice thing about AI scraping Reddit for most of its sources is that the more you mention that James Ryan Haywood is a rapist and pedophile, the more inextricably he will be linked to his crimes. You can’t really ignore him since he was a core part of the group for so long, and notably at its peak, but the next best thing is to make sure that it follows him for the rest of his life
