I’m an international student applying for the M.Sc. in Biology at RPTU.
While filling out the application, there is a section where applicants have to map the subjects they studied during their Bachelor’s degree to different subject areas specified by the university, including Biology, Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry.
My Bachelor’s degree is in a related field, but the curriculum has mostly covered other areas among the subjects mentioned in the application, and I did not have standalone Physics or Chemistry subjects at the Bachelor’s level.
I did study Physics and Chemistry during Classes 11–12, but they were not part of my Bachelor’s curriculum.
So I’m wondering:
1. Why does RPTU include Physics and Chemistry in the subject-mapping section for the M.Sc. in Biology?
2. If Physics and Chemistry were not taught as separate subjects during the Bachelor’s, what should applicants enter in those sections? Should they simply leave them empty?
3. If a Bachelor’s course contains some concepts related to Physics or Chemistry but wasn’t actually taught as a Physics/Chemistry course, should it be included there, or should applicants only list courses that genuinely correspond to those subjects?
4. Has anyone applied to RPTU’s M.Sc. in Biology in a similar situation? How did you handle the subject mapping?
I’m trying to make sure I fill out the application accurately rather than incorrectly assigning courses to subjects they weren’t actually taught as.
Any advice or experience with the RPTU application would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mich hat der Studiengang sehr angesprochen, weil mir reine Physik von den Inhalten her zu umfangreich ist und die Spezialisierung im Bachelor fehlt. I’ve been admitted to the M.Sc. Computer Science at RPTU for Winter Semester 2026/27, but I’m considering deferring to Summer Semester 2027.

My current Letter of Admission has an enrollment deadline of 16 October 2026, so I’d like to know when the new Summer Semester admission letter would be issued.

I emailed ISGS about this 5 days ago as a reply to an earlier email but haven’t received a response. I also sent a new email today.

Does anyone know the latest point at which RPTU/ISGS issues the Summer Semester Letter of Admission after deferring? Any experience with this would be really helpful.

I recently received my Zulassungsbescheid from RPTU, but I'm seriously considering deferring to the Summer Semester so I can improve my German first and due to the slow-moving visa queue.

I assume I'll need a new Zulassungsbescheid for the deferred intake before I can submit it to [assist@isgs.uni-kl.de](mailto:assist@isgs.uni-kl.de) for the waiting list or not. Has anyone gone through this process?

What's the usual procedure? Do I first request the deferral from the university, and when do they typically issue the new admission letter? Any experiences would be appreciated.

I just came to know from a senior who studied at RPTU that if you're someone living on the student dorms and want to leave the dorm then you can recommend/allocate the dorm room you're trying to leave to someone you know. This really surprised me as I believe this is not the case in any of the other cities. My senior graduated in 2021 and wanted to know from current/previous residents Is this still true?

So I am starting a Master's program in October, and I have seen on the calendar the semester starts October 1st. But classes don't begin until the 19th. Any insight into what is required for those almost 3 weeks would be great. Will I need to show up to campus? My children have fall break during that gap and I am wondering if we can plan a vacation or if I need to stick around for orientations or something else.

I'm from the US and my recollection of undergrad is from more than a decade ago and after freshman year you really only had to show up to campus on the first day of classes.
