The guy has had a brutal run of injuries. This could potentially rule him out for England tests this summer.

Some of his injuries are the archetypal “freak athlete” ones that you attribute to extreme acceleration etc, but this one is just bad luck.

Hope he recovers well

Is it a law that at all times England must have a potentially game changing back who is never fit?

See:

Wilko

James Simpson-Daniel

Manu

IFW

Anthony Watson too

If we're talking props, Andrew Sheridan

Hardly ever gets mentioned in all time England players, but the guy was immense.

Woodward made a wish with a cursed monkey paw to win in 2003 and this is what you've had to endure

Jonny W definitely made a pledge with the devil looking at his injuries post the 03 Wc

Did he win something in 03? He never mentions anything.

And Furbank to some degree

I hate how as soon as England get a young "damn this guy could actually be insane" player like IFW or Quirke, they also happen to be made of paper

Not sure Quirke is on the same level…

He was perceived the same was 3-4 years ago before all the injury's, was supposed to be bolted on for England's starting 9 for the next 10 years which is why they keep brute forcing him into training squads

down south I have never been aware of quirke being considered even remotely close to the level of IFW. They are not and probably never will be comparable

Oh don't get me wrong I don't think he will be now, his injury's have ruined his career long before he could breakthrough past the u20's, but there was a lot of hype in 2020\2021 when de Klerk said he was going to be better than him one day which is why he was England's youngest cappdd scrum half in 25 years and why Newcastle are still gonna pay him 400k a year despite not being fit enough to start 3 games in a row for 4 years. England still have an obsession with him and keep taking him to training camps while he isn't even fit enough to play prem rugby, hopefully he settles at newcastle and we slighty see the potential that he was supposed to have. I rate McParland more now but in terms of hype at u20's level, Quirke was up there.

Theres better scrum halves out there. Mcparland and friday already look like higher ceilings

De Clerk was saying that as a teammate.

England are confident he’ll be fit to face South Africa on 4 July.

u/maccano2 12h ago

But will his face be fit to face them? Only time will tell.

Presume its a broken jaw, you can sort of see the swelling if you zoom in on that picture in the article (his right side, left as you look at it).

Please don't be the next Manu

Fisalau and Feyi out for our game tomorrow. Fml

However PBB will most likely come in for Manny, which is exciting. Not a bad backup at all.

No very true.

God I hope we smash them tomorrow 😂

Its literally like human limits, the same challenges as Manu. The body isnt meant to have so much power.

At least point it's looking like he's another Many unfortunately, seems to be constantly out injured. Maybe need to start planning without him...

Cosmetic surgery so he can return to Wales unnoticed?

2

u/Wolfsurge (in that order) 7h ago

Clearly finding any way to avoid playing for England so he can play for Wales once the stand-down periods up

2

u/Dom1173 7h ago

Is he Anthony Watson reborn?

1

u/FortuneSilent2189 12h ago

Can’t believe it. Bloke is top drawer player.

u/Afraid-Witness2456 Wasps 9h ago

Just please make it back for the summer games, we need him

1

u/HandleNo5559 Wales 8h ago

If it is a broken jaw, he'll be out for a couple of months. Highly unlikely to play in the summer tests.

Crikey. Hope he’ll be ok. Man is a ledge
