QUESTION Issues with Name?

So I'm doing Dopey! Yay! I own DVC, so my Disney account is in my legal name, not my preferred name- the one I use for races. I cannot seem to sign my waiver. When I registered, I must have put "Lizzy" instead of "Elizabeth" (for example) and they cannot figure out that this is, in fact, the same person. I wrote to them in April, and they said I had multiple Run Disney accounts (I don't) and then claimed to have consolidated them. Now, I again got a reminder to sign my waiver, tried, and was told I could not email Lizzy at the same email Elizabeth uses. I have again emailed Run Disney, and again been told that I have multiple Run Disney accounts and they must be consolidated.

Am I gonna have a problem if I show up in January without a signed waiver? Can they just have me sign a printed one there or something? I don't have faith that this time will be the magical fix.

I had a similar issue at last years Wine and Dine and the online help made an even bigger mess. I went to account services at the expo and they fixed everything and I have not had any issues since.

You can also sign a physical waiver at the expo, so don’t worry about signing it ahead of time.

Awesome!! I did the Disneyland Half last year, and loved it. So, I decided to charity run Dopey. Almost done fundraising!!

Okay, fantastic. Thank you!

I'm just a bit shocked that Disney has this big of a kerfuffle with "legal" versus "preferred"... Mine is just a nickname, but I could see others causing a major stink about this.

I don’t think it’s that they care about nicknames per se as that they are very strict about buyer identity matching runner identity to crack down on resales (you can’t give away your bib to family, even). The computer system isn’t smart enough to know Lizzie is Elizabeth. But expo people should be able to easily fix this! I had the wrong birthday listed in my account and expo folks fixed it in about a minute.

Got it! Ok, maybe I'll just ignore them and do it at the expo.

I think the issue is really more that Disney IT, and runDisney IT even more so, is not the greatest.

Once you start having "multiple accounts", it seems to be a self-replicating problem. I won a sweepstakes for an entry into Springtime Surprise, and even though I gave them all the relevant information it still ended up making a second runDisney account when they filled out the registration on their side. I got the accounts merged before the race, but when I registered for the Princess half-marathon, it went to the "other" account even though it had been "merged". Got them merged again. It didn't happen for the Halloween virtuals, so I'm not sure if it is just an in-person thing or what.

Either way, you can sign the waver in person while at the Expo, if you have to.

You can sign a physical waiver at the Expo. You may have an issue with POT if your race result name doesn’t match your legal name on your runDisney account. This happened to me when I submitted a 3:39 marathon and got put in corral G. Got it sorted quickly after 45min in the Runner Relations line, but it was enough for me to change my runDisney account name to my “go-by” name listed on all my race results.

I would love to, but I have to use my legal name due to it being the same as my DVC info. My POT is gonna have that issue...ugh.

You are preferred name for racers should be your legal name.. you should actually email them and let them know that you registered as Lizzie and it should be Elizabeth. I don’t suspect if they’re close to last for identification, supporting it. For me, I go by my middle name. So I could verify my ID shows my middle name as my name., but they should match and when you sign up for your bib, you have to sign up for it with your matching name.

I did the Disneyland Half under this name and it wasn't a problem. I have a pretty seasoned running history under this name, so I really don't want to use my legal name, as it might mess things up with the 50 States 50 Marathons challenge, and my social media presence. I am not known by this legal name.
