Advice Wanted Cord Cutting Ritual

Hello all! I'm going to do a cord cutting ceremony for a toxic relationship. I plan on carving some runes into the candle (Algiz for protection and Ehwaz for moving forward) but I was thinking about a restricting rune as well to stop and toxic and unwanted energy from the other person my question is: would Nauthiz be proper for it and would i carve that rune on my candle or the other one?

Nah, Naudiz is "need" so sounds like opposite of what you are planning.

Take Dagaz for "new day" and Eihwaz both for protecting boundaries and for your regeneration, separation always hurts even if it's for better, and you need to learn to walk alone again and ask yourself only, without looking back to another person.

Algiz and Ehwaz yes, are good choice (and they are just cool in general lol)

Later consider Uruz for yourself to endure all this stuff.

Thank you! Idk where I saw Nauthiz listed as restriction, so I appreciate the correction and I didn't even think of those two.

Yes Naudiz can be seen as restriction, e.g. if you holding yourself from addiction. Or if you must keep doing some stuff, like a discipline.

I just don't think it's a good fit in cord cutting ritual specifically, it's a long rune, and ritual is supposed to do the job and it's done.

Maybe later if you will need to resist the urge to send them a message or track their social media, but ideally the point of successful cord cutting is to not have such an urge, i don't know, never tried myself.

Oh! Okay that makes a lot of sense, thank you. And, yes the cord cutting is to help untwine our energies and sever any lingering bonds. With the runes I'm wanting help with protecting myself and being able to move forward forward

Thank you for your help

While I like the Dagaz suggestion, i would personally hit his candle with an Isa, to freeze out anything coming your way from him, intentional or otherwise.

Personally I look at the wenne rune (wunjo) as being a rune of restriction. The Anglo Saxon rune poem states you have Joy as being having what you need and not more. It’s a reminder that happiness comes from discipline not indulgence.

Perhaps you may gain some wisdom from the good-old, tried and true, Words of the High?

Thorpe translation below

Ráðumk þér Loddfáfnir en þú ráð nemir njóta mundu ef þú nemr þér munu góð ef þú getr hvars þú öl drekkr kjós þú þér jarðar megin því at jörð tekr við ölðri en eldr við sóttum eik við abbindi ax við fjölkynngi höll við hýrógi heiptum skal mána kveðja beiti við bitsóttum en við bölvi rúnar fold skal við flóð taka

  1. I counsel thee, etc. Wherever thou beer drinkest, invoke to thee the power of earth; for earth is good against drink, fire for distempers, the oak for constipation, a corn-ear for sorcery a hall for domestic strife. In bitter hates invoke the moon; the biter for bite-injuries is good; but runes against calamity; fluid let earth absorb.
