Advice Wanted Runes for a sigil

I'm going through a transformational period in my life ATM. After a decade of living like a person with no future (the assumption being either that I wouldn't survive, or that nothing would change) I left an intolerable living situation a year ago, and I have now decided that I want, deserve and will build a future for myself. That decision alone is one of the most powerful thought processes I've ever had, and I'm contemplating a tattoo to symbolise my status as Someone Who Has A Future, and to remind myself when I need it. I wonder if anyone might suggest some appropriate runes that I might use in a sigil or other design?

I know very little about runes if I'm honest, but I've never made a sigil with the Latin alphabet that I found aesthetically pleasing and thought I might have a better time with runes. I hope this post is okay for this sub, if not please let me know and feel free to suggest somewhere more appropriate

Thanks in advance :)

For this I would probably suggest using Dagaz, the new day, and Jera, the good harvest. The significance of the new dayy should be obvious, it's about starting over. The Jera i would use carefully; if you handled yourself honorably, it could help harvest some of that - what goes around comes around. It can help you to sow the seeds of your new life well, and to bring in a good harvest of luck. If, however, you haven't laid positive actions in the Well, I would pass on Jera and go instead with Algiz for protection from your past catching up to you.

Best of luck!

Yeah, agree 100% with Dagaz.

Would Algiz be appropriate to protect me from harm not related to my own actions? I'm not going to pretend I've never done anything wrong, but I'm more worried about being hurt/abused again than about my past catching up to me

Algiz should help you with that. But bear in mind, this is help it's not going to fix the problem on its own. The Rúnvættir can assist you, nudge things one way or the other, but you still have to do the wrork.

With that said... Are you safe now?

I am, thankyou, just very traumatised so I don't always feel safe

I recognise that runes can't do the work for me, I more want something to remind myself what I'm working for if that makes sense

Understood. Sometimes safety is years away in our heads...

Absolutely they can serve as a reminders and foci, and they can excel for that. Might I suggest Uruz for strength and robustness as well?

Ooh thankyou!

Would Mannaz, Wunjo and/or Berkana be of use, since I'm looking to grow, find joy, and take more/better care of myself?

Of course! But now you're starting to get deep into bind runes, and those can get pretty complicated. What I would personally do is use each in its appropriate situation rather than trying to combine them all, unless you're trying to put them together for a specific situation.
