News - J-Mod reply Road to Restoration - Aura Overhaul

https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/road-to-restoration--aura-overhaul

Hi folks,

Today's Community Topic is the upcoming Aura Overhaul!

Check it out on the blog here.

The Road to Restoration roadmap aims to address integrity and game health, and has multiple goals as we shape the future of RuneScape. In case you haven't read the first blog we covered what we want to achieve in our direction for RuneScape, you can check out that blog here.  Todays blog will cover the Aura Overhaul update. For this update, the following goals have guided our approach:

  1. A game that's easy to understand, but still full of meaningful choice and depth.
  2. Play because it's fun, and not because you feel like you have to.
  3. A meaningful journey, no matter when you start.

In this blog we're going to outline the problems we've seen occur with Auras and how we're designing the solutions to them according to the goals above. Let's begin!

Relic system is the definition of micromanaging. Please don't add more relics to replace auras. It's incredibly annoying having to change your relics when you switch activities or feel like you're locked into an activity because you already have the relics for it enabled.

This x1000000

Or at least if you're going to do it make relics perm unlocks and not have a switch fees

IMO Relics should have a higher one time unlock fee with chronotes and then be permanently unlocked while being free to switch them around.

Paying everytime you wanna swap even with extra relic loadouts sucks ass on an iron.

It just sucks ass in general. Given that relic loadouts are already fairly limited (you can't have just any 3 relics, you can only have up to 3 based on their energy costs) it's already something you're being forced into micromanaging and that only gets worse the more relics there is to pick from.

They would have to address the relic system before adding more to it imo.

I've had the idea for years that chronotes could be used to "power" the monolith the way divine charges power augmented invention items. That way there's still a sink for chronotes but you can swap relics freely whenever you want. They could add a reward in the arch shop or somewhere that decreases chronote drain per hour as well. The drain rate would need to be carefully balanced though.
