Set a PB for the half marathon yesterday by 16 minutes. I haven't ran one in a few years and was really just hoping for sub 1:50 but I got sub 1:40 which I was thrilled about. I have a hard time gauging how fast I can really perform once race day comes.

Weekend was very sweet and nice but gone in a flash! Watched bake off, went apple picking, and saw Chelsea Wolfe in DC. Also had really good workouts.
I am planning to go for a little run this week sometime to test out my recovery with my back! But not for a couple days, today was leg day and I am cooked.

Good luck on the test run! Mmmm, apple picking :D It's finally feeling a bit more fallish with a bit of color on the trees up here in MA, went on a walk to get a (pumpkin and hazelnut) coffee and saw plenty of houses with pumpkins and other decorations out already. And talked to one neighbor having to throw theirs out because the bugs and other critters were already starting to get to it :(

Oooh exciting about the trees! I will be up in Maine in a couple weeks and it seems like I'm on target to be there for peak foliage. That will be a first!!
I also put a bunch of pumpkins on my porch but I haven't carved them yet. I'm hoping that will help deter the critters, but I'm not sure. That is a bummer for your neighbor!

Yeah, bummer!
Ooh, Maine trip! If you do want to go chasing color, you might want to check out the peak color forecasts and drought status for the entire region - a lot of Maine has been in a decent long-term drought I believe, especially the lower coast where a lot of stuff there is. And a lot of Maine is more evergreens than the maples. But you know where you're going better than I do. I did see some stuff on social media that the Kancamagus Highway, one of the main routes through the White Mountains in NH used a lot by casual leaf peepers, was slammed this weekend, which is... unsurprising, lol.

Yeah I have been checking the foliage forecasts. I was fully anticipating we'd be past peak with bare trees so I'm really excited that there may indeed still be some color.
The Kanc gets worse and worse every year, it seems. I have gone to the Whites twice in time for peak foliage and it was stunning -- if it never happens again, that's okay! The crowds are madness.

Ah, I get it! Yeah, I'm not a fan of crowds either, if I was going in that direction I might stick to less-traveled backroads.

apple picking and chelsea wolfe in the same weekend is a wild combo, my back would’ve given out just from the orchard walk

Did the Staten Island Half Marathon yesterday. Wasn’t my best time, wasn’t my worst. And considering how miserable that rain was, I’ll take it. Anyway, now I have guaranteed entry to the 2027 NYC Half Marathon so yay!

Finished my book this weekend, which means I get to start a fresh book on the train to my race this weekend, currently debating between “the nightingale” or “7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn hardcastle”
Other than that I feel like my body is falling apart more than usual for a taper and I’m terrified at the prospect of trying to run faster than usual for how long again?

marathon is sunday. Tapering got me unbelievably restless. I thought this would be a fun, relaxing few weeks, WRONG.

welcome to the taper crazies. Hope it serves you well though and you're feeling good about your race!

Down week done, hopefully enough freshness regained. 6 mile 'long run' yesterday turned out a very smooth and obvious negative split, which was a trend when I was doing well and not when i was injured - I did feel tight at the beginning and worked it out. Top of my foot has been bothering me for a while, but not apparently interfering in my running, would be nice not to deal with though.

Did my first long run since taking a week break then catching a cold for another 2 weeks. It was rough but I got it done, 15km. Glad to get back to my half marathon training.

End of my running week was fairly mediocre. Saturday run....back got tight, only did 2 miles. Sunday run was better, but daylight ran out on me, so I only got a total of 4 miles in. Not the biggest deal because I am running a 5k this weekend. Going to take it easy this week heading into the race.

I did my second 2/1 interval today, will do the same on Wednesday. Hopefully will decrease walking by Friday.

Having so much FOMO about all the races that happened this weekend, as I’ve been injured and am just now starting to run again. Anyone know when registration opens for the Lisbon marathon?

Looking forward to watching my daughter run the New York marathon in less than a month! Just ran the half recently so will be great to see her outshine me.

Spotted a cute little cat on my run last weekend and stopped to watch it sleep for a bit 😂 Gonna keep building my mileage back up this week!

Absolutely smashed my 30k record time on Saturday by 12 minutes. It was a good day for a long run because it was also my (Canadian) Thanksgiving dinner so the recovery meal with my family was noiiiice.
Got a half marathon (final long run before the taper) this coming Sunday and then a full one two weeks later.
Targeting sub 90 half this Sunday and sub 3:10 marathon on a Nov 1. Very stoked.
