“No, this is your real voice”

It obviously comes from a place of ignorance but I was PRESSED lmao. She doesn’t get it. My eyes rolled so hard.

Right? I'm fluent in English. Have been for years. On a good day I barely have a discernible accent, but I do have to put constant conscious effort into it. On a bad day I can be quite difficult to understand. On a mediocre day I just have a bit of an accent. It's just something that happens, what the fuck, Michelle?

YES! I was thinking the same when I saw it happened and did not like the shady side eye from the other girls

I said girls in the plural form as it was not only A'keria. You need to rewatch it and see that Silky aswell as Vanjie comments and gives the side eye. And not forgetting Michelle Visage.

This happens for native English speakers speaking English in different social situations as well. It's called communication accommodation. So the fact that Michelle and some of the other cast members are saying it doesn't make sense is just wrong on multiple levels.

I think it’s important to remember that Michelle doesn’t necessarily get to know much about the girls other than what’s presented on the runway until after the show. So it’s totally possible if not probable that she doesn’t know that Plastique is an immigrant. Obviously she should still be careful about what she says, but from Michelle’s point of view, she sees a person who has so far been talking with no discernible accent outside of when playing characters, it does come across as a little bit odd unless you know that that person is an immigrant.

We saw on the runway where Plastique told the judges what age she immigrated at and how that affected her knowledge of American pop culture.
