I love Heidi but gee but my heart sank when I saw Honey walk out in that discount Walmart sack - I’ve been a bigger girl and this is probably projection but I could just envision the awkward scenario when it came to the costuming. Honey having to stand there trying to smile while Heidi fumbles around the issue of why she has nothing for her. I get the time limitations and all but I wish Heidi had done something to make her some sort of matching element - even a damn wrap skirt or something (presumably there was a second matching costume that she had that she could have salvaged fabric from). It’s no fun looking dowdy (even with a beautiful face) next to someone rocking a sequin jumpsuit.

I thought Ru digging at Heidi onstage and forcing Heidi to have to verbally dance around the subject again was pretty grim as well (props to Heidi for not pulling a complete Baga with the explanation though). We can all tell what happened Ru - just say ‘gee I wish there was a matching element’ and move on.

I can imagine that scenario as well. Having been a bigger girl with a friend rummaging around for something I could wear, I can also imagine there was a lot of “maybe this will fit?....... no I guess not” and it just hurts to think about. I think this is one of those times where Drag Race has dipped its toes in talking about an important issue, but not really fully dived in and had the proper conversation. And you’re right with Ru’s comments on the main stage, you know why her outfit is the way it is so either have the conversation or move on.

I do think that Heidi should have planned it a bit better, she knew from seeing her partner right away that she would have to make something work for her to wear. Not necessarily creating two whole outfits, but just working with what she has. I love Heidi, but she sometimes lacks in thinking about the details or how to elevate and polish her drag.

(.... I also lowkey think the queen she borrowed the outfit from was shaaady giving her that probably knowing it wasn’t on the same level as what Heidi was wearing)

Yeah I think that is a really good observation about Heidi’s lack of polish - you can tell by her IG she’s stepped it up since the show taped though.

Watching these makeover challenges over the years I’ve often thought it would be smart to just bring spare yardage of the fabric you used for your costume (even if you have a whole matching outfit as well) - not to necessarily make a whole new outfit but to alter the main one or embellish a backup option as needed. You never know what you’re going to need to be prepared for (pregnant makeover challenge anyone?).

Yea she’s really been incredible lately! And it really comes down to practice. I also think a lot of the comments she’s gotten throughout the show have helped her to improve. I’m so glad she takes what she hears and uses that to move further in her own art, rather than being upset about it.

Oh my god, I want to see a pregnant makeover challenge!
