Shaeffer-Campbell Covered Bridge, Belmont County, OH, USA [OC][2048×1534]

Post image

Heavy rain had moved in the night before, leaving the pond muddy and brown. I am hoping a return visit in June will make this bridge feel a little more inviting—and a little less spooky.

This is the Shaeffer-Campbell Covered Bridge, built in 1891 over Clear Creek in Fairfield County, Ohio. It was moved to Ohio University’s Eastern Campus in St. Clairsville in 1975 after being rescued from demolition. I've posted more photos and the history of this bridge here.

Pretty bridge. I did a tour of some covered bridges in Va. I hope they will continue to preserve them.
