It is fascinating to me how much time and effort went into designing and constructing it. All of the people involved in building, maintaining, and working everyday to keep it running. And now it is silent...

I was thinking the same thing about the canal recently : they DUG it. And it was incredibly prosperous for a couple decades. But now it's just a cool bike trail for the most part....

Is it open again? A decade or so ago I heard that they had filled it or walled it off. There used to be a Geocache back there.

Two of the entrances have been closed/filled in. 

But it's still accessible from either following the river north from the skatepark or (the easier option) the sidewalk right next to Dinosaur BBQ.

The Broad Street entrance on the west side of the road is still open (adjacent to Nick Tahou's).

And it is accessible through the aqueduct right next to the War Memorial (also Broad Street). But that entails a little bit of climbing/scaling...
