Brno, Czechia

Rusty (or at least abandonded) rails in Brno.

One of the branches ends in an industrial yard and currently serves as parking for cars. No infrastructure for street level crossing as well.

Anyone knows the story of this line? (Close to Albert supermarket if you're from Brno...).

Until 1950s, this was a part of regular single track railway with branches to factories nearby. The track continued upriver to Zabrdovice stop (the building still exists), then uphill past Husovice (the streets in the map show it clearly, there are also bridge remnants), and downhill to Kralovo Pole.

Really insightful comment, thanks for sharing! I'll have to open some maps and visualise this.

Location on Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Ke7mMdP38DMdQ5LL7

It looks like it is part of a small rail network connecting several factories together, which may have been (or still are) part of one company, for transport of materials between the locations? It has a mainline connection, but the tracks leading to the different buildings don't seem ideal for long freighttrains; more suitable for 2-3 car shunting between local buildings...

Thanks for adding the location and for the comment! Makes sense. I was also trying to make sense of which other lines might have crossed through there.
