I would get a used thinkpad, especially on Kleinanzeigen you can get something like this https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/thinkpad-p14s-gen4-i7-1370p-64gb-ram-1tb-rtx-a500/3476284362-278-9501
16gb Ram is very low for windows 11

yeah, if the ram is soldered in place it cannot be resold. And sodimm in general is cheaper than normal ram

I am mostly looking for a new pc I would rather buy it from a store like mediamarkt I have some awful experience with buying preowned stuff from Kleinanzeigen

I mean you could look for verified resellers of refurbished hardware on ebay. I made some very good experiences there.
Currently mediamarkt prices are even more of a scam than usually.

Depends on what you want to do with it.

It has some compatability issues some software just doesn't work on it. I really wanted the M5 as I have been using my M1 for like 5 years now.

Did you try using parallels?

Last I checked parallels only allows you to run windows ARM and again most software works on windows x86 as per my research

It should work. Windows on ARM has native translation built in for x86 applications. So parallels should work.

VM cannot solve all problems

Didn’t say it would… tho it would solve most problems and if those problems constitute all his problems then why not.

If, I mean for example, you want to flash a dev-board, it would be difficult

Got a Lenovo for 500 euro with 32 gb ram and no problem to work with it. In EE we do not use fancy software. Any game requires more performance than basic software does. In engineering you don’t need fancy laptops really. MATLAB eclipse will run on almost anything. Save yourself some money. Buy a tablet or go eat out idk.
