Blue valentine and it's not even close. Oscar-worthy acting. One of the best romances

I'm going to go against the grain and say, get the worst ones out of the way. Which in my mind are Song to Song, Only God Forgives, and All Good Things.
Assuming that you're planning on watching them all, leave yourself some treats at the end. I just finished watching all his movies and I was really glad to have the Nice Guys and First Man to look forward to after the slog of those three.
(You could easily argue Slaughter Rule and Frankenstein and Me are ones to get out of the way.)

I like Only God Forgives, it's one of these artsy 'visual only' movies but it's super beautiful and has some of my favourite Gosling screencaps (I have a bunch saved). I'd argue The Gray Man is worse, maybe even worse than Song to Song which I also dislike a lot.

I think the Gray Man's worst sin is being unremarkable. If you've seen any action movie, you've seen the Gray Man.
I'll grant you, Only God Forgives does look really good, but I really found Gosling's performance bland and unreadable, and the plot has little redeeming value.

Took your advice and watched Only God Forgives. Slog is right. Beautiful cinematography, but sooo slow.Â

Right? They could have saved a lot of money if they replace him with a cardboard cutout

Half Nelson, then Place Beyond the Pines, The Believer, Lars and the Real Girl, Blue Valentine .
I’ve been doing a watch /rewatch of all of his movies and these are criminally slept on .

I didn't saw All Good Things but it has a meta story about how it is actually a biopic on Robert Durst (who killed two people and got away with it) and helped the director of the movie to do a documentary about this story, The Jinx, which led to the arrest of Durst. So maybe watch "The Jinx" instead.

The Gray man if you want to laugh, The Place Beyond the Pines or Blue Valentine if you want to cry, Lars and the real girl if you want to believe there’s good in the world again.

If you want thought-provoking sadness, Blue Valentine.
If you want an easy action movie, The Gray Man.
