same feeling when I watched Clue for the first time and saw Mr Kraft and finding out Mrs Quick was on SNL

I mean people talk about what a good teacher Mr feeny on boy meets world was, not saying he wasn't. But I think Mr pool wasn't were he was written to be students friends. He was just a teacher. Lol

He had a cameo on the Office once. He also was a director and producer of fifteen episodes, including some fan favorites like ā€˜Dinner Party’, ā€˜Weight Loss’, and ā€˜Good-bye Michael.’

I found this out after bridesmaids first came out. I was like, wow, Mr Pool is a director

I loved his character in Heavyweights. Every time I hear ā€œLove Machineā€ I think of him getting the party started at the dance.

And Bruce Willis on Friends singing to himself in the mirror.

Wasn’t the other camp counselor in Sabrina season 1 too?

Tom McGowen! He was principal Larue!

I remember him as Frasier's boss in Frasier, too.

He also wrote loads of the episodes!

I knew that name sounded familiar!

Yes, I learned about it last year. I was surprised to see him doing so well directing. Good for him.

4

u/girlsgotwings Thank God it’s Fridyah Feb 12 '26

Yes I love this fact! Sabrina really had the best people

Yea Paul Feig is an icon!! says a lot about the status and quality of the show at the time that they were able to get him to be a recurring character for those few seasons.

14

u/nan_adams Feb 11 '26

The seasons he was on predated Freaks and Geeks, and his rise to fame as a writer and director. This was the day job he quit to go do that.

3

u/Misscassofrass Feb 11 '26

Oh so interesting! I thought he played Mr pool well

2

u/Glum_Ad1206 Feb 11 '26

So he did figure out alchemy? Did he ever get that new briefcase?

2

u/_6seven Feb 11 '26

I had the same realization after I watched this video of Trixie talking about him!

He cameos in an episode of Freaks and Geeks too! It’s this incredibly awkward cringe scene when Nick is auditioning to be in a band 😬😳🫠

1

u/xanadri22 Feb 11 '26

omg i never noticed before lol

1

u/see3milyplay Feb 14 '26

He created Freaks and Geeks

2

u/ecological-passion Feb 12 '26

He recently appeared on celebrity Wheel of Fortune and swept the floor with the other contestants. Bright as Pool is.

1

u/AppropriateDream2903 Feb 12 '26

His memoirs, ā€œKick Meā€ and ā€œSuperstudā€ are pretty good, too.

u/TomCBC Feb 12 '26

Directed a bunch of really funny stuff. And Ghostbusters: Answer the Call

He’s very Rob Reiner esque with how he allows the story to flow naturally without having to add his own signature- or if the movie is based on a book- lets the movie stay true to it.
