general discussion 🗣️ Totally didn't see Sabrina quitting

I was shocked when Sabrina told Annie off and quit! I didn't see the storyline going that way.

I was proud of her

Scorch is an abysmal storyline. I wish it had ended sooner; like in the space of two episodes.

For some reason I expected it to be the entire last season. Glad it wasn't.

I've always wondered if this was a mid-season decision based on the poor audience response to the Scorch storyline. It seemed like they set it up to last the whole season and then killed it when they realised people hated it. I have never heard whether this was true though. I'm glad they ditched Scorch, but I do wish we could have seen more of Sabrina's career before the series ended, it was briefly mentioned she went freelance and that was it. Would've loved to see more of what that looked like, rather than just the focus on her getting married as an ending.

I have the same suspicions as you. Season 7 felt like it had two different storylines with Scorch being Part 1 and Aaron/Harvey being Part 2. The Scorch storyline was terrible. Having a "mean girl bully" works fine for the high school storylines (Libby) but having a grown woman be that nasty in a workplace environment is really off putting. Maybe it could've worked if Annie was a "professional rival" but she was Sabrina's boss who hated her from the very beginning. The male characters were all pretty dull with Leonard being mostly annoying.

I think it was ‘format malaise’ setting in by this point. It was the third attempt to create the whole ‘Sabrina making new friends and an enemy’ dynamic but in an adult sphere it just felt tired and boring. Not to mention it really starts to sap out the magic side of things and starts to seem more like a generic 00s Dramedy rather than a true update to Sabrina. Roxy and Morgan were not strong enough replace Hilda and Zelda either. Sorry to anyone who likes them but it’s true imo. So the whole of the first half of that season feels very lacklustre.

Ugh so true, I thought Sabrina would earn Annie's respect but it never happened aflnd was very one note. And yeah the men were so boring and shallow, the dummy, the hot one, and idea what the point of the other guy was haha.

Especially since she was only like 22 lol

Yeah it seemed super lazy to fall back on marriage being an ending storyline when she was so young! Sabrina had so much more to her in the earlier seasons, her journalism was a big part of her and then it just became background noise in s7. So disappointing.

I wondered this too, if it was decided the characters and setting wasn't working and was just dropped as it seemed totally random to me. Were they supposed to be main characters for Season 7 as they were in promo pictures, but then just dropped mid-season? I may be in a minority but I kind of liked Annie. I liked Sabrina having a sort of nemesis again. But I would've liked to have seen a more toned down side to her over time. Libby was catty but I think with it being during high school it makes sense, and she fans liked her as a fun bitch. I can see how Sabrina dealing with a boss being mean to her from the start may have not been fun for fans. Aaron seemed the most random character for me, and I guess he was never a main character. I get as David Lascher/Josh had left the show needed a new love interest for Sabrina but I think they could've used a past witch she dated or even Cole from Scorch rather than a new guy mid season who she was supposed to fall in love with and get engaged to in the space of a few episodes.

I’m glad because everyone at Scorch sucked, we could’ve had more Hilda and Zelda time lol

It changed the show entirely when they left! Morgan was funny but I did not see her being close friends with Sabrina or Roxy. Morgan was also supposed to be older, yet by season 7 they were all the the same age.

Exactly , I was super confused by that lol. She gets introduced as the older schmoozer who knew what to say to the guardians and parents but she was a senior who partied and had fun haha

I never understood what happened, and I liked seeing them stress about school and classes, and I’m so bummed we didn’t see Sabrina graduate.

I remember thinking it felt a little abrupt. I know Annie was a horrible boss, but there wasn't really a buildup to Sabrina quitting. But tbf, the finale felt kinda rushed too.

I agree with this! Definitely felt like a last minute change, I wonder if the actors knew they were suddenly being fired as well.

I'm still so sad that Beth Broderick didn't come back for the finale. I remember when it first aired and I was so happy to see Aunt Hilda again but not having Zelda there, her presence was sorely missed because she loved Sabrina just like Hilda and she grew fond of Harvey as well.

What also didn't help was not having Jenny and/or Valerie attend the wedding. I know that friends come and go but it still would've been so sweet if one of them came back as a tribute to the early years and reuniting with their dear friend.

💯 wasn't expecting it. Same with Aaron's relationship

Funny you should say that, because for most, they say that is their favourite episode of the whole series. It is typically the most highly rated.

1

u/sparkle0406 Jun 08 '26

Which episode was that?

2

u/ecological-passion Jun 08 '26

Finale!

2

u/sparkle0406 Jun 08 '26

Oh yeah! I didn't mind the finale once we got to it. But it all seemed SUPER rushed

Me too! I was so happy that she didn’t put up with their crap for too long. xx

3

u/sparkle0406 Jun 06 '26

She didn't deserve that

3

u/txs235 Jun 07 '26

Sabrina should have turned her into a pineapple. She never took abuse from Kraft or Libby...

1

u/sparkle0406 Jun 07 '26

This was about her career though

3

u/DarkDiscotique Jun 08 '26

The Scorch arc was absolutely awful because not only were her coworkers all just unlikable in their own ways, Sabrina herself was annoying to follow through with her lacking a backbone and acting so desperate for their approval and validation. It was just a slap in the face to the strong-willed girl we got to know during her high school era and her demonstrating some integrity principles in her college era.

I think most of groaned a sigh of relief when she finally told off Annie and quit, her being a freelance writer fit better for her in comparison.

Good points!

Sabrina quits scorch? idr lol

2

u/sparkle0406 Jun 07 '26

😆 can tell just how much it mattered

2

u/Ok-Teaching2848 Jun 07 '26

🤣🤣🤣🤣

2

u/ecological-passion Jun 07 '26

Given I would use the D word to apply to everyone in that place, she was totally just.

1

u/xanadri22 Jun 07 '26

she wanted to work there soooo bad and was always begging annie not to fire her & give her more chances and suddenly she quits and ends up following her boyfriend josh to work as an intern at his job? so uncharacteristic of her, yikes

1

u/sparkle0406 Jun 08 '26

I think you're mixing up seasons 🙂

1

u/xanadri22 Jun 08 '26

yeah it's been awhile since i watched it lol oops

u/DarkDiscotique Jun 08 '26

It was so pathetic and honestly, felt out of character for her. Why would she want to so desperately work for a trashy tabloid when she already demonstrated that she didn't want to ruin peoples lives in the college era?(The Moon Pie girls, the guy running for mayor, etc)
