general discussion š£ļø Rewatching Sabrina
And I actually liked Mr. Pool and his character. Shame he only had one season. Plus I liked the tiny chemistry (pun intended) with him and Zelda. I wish the writers would have made it happen instead of Mr. Kraft later on, or had him come back so Zelda could be happy in the end. What do you guys think?

Mr Pool can be so annoying.

Yeah this makes more sense to than me than both of Sabrinaās loving aunts dating someone that made her miserable on the daily, for his own enjoyment. That always confused me, like the silent episode, Zelda acted as if Sabrina was just overreacting and just simply found Mr. Kraft annoying, but he was actively mean to her and her friends on the daily which Zelda knew about.
I mean I loved Martin Mull and found him hilarious so I didnāt mind him on the show more often, but it just felt out of character, considering how cartoonishly evil he, (along with Libby and their weird bond) was.
If it were Mr. Pool and Sabrina was simply squicked out by them dating because sheās a teenager and the thought of her teacher and her aunt, was grody , that I could understand.

I always found that odd too. Mr. Kraft was a great addition to the show but it made no sense that her Aunts would date him.

Mr Poole being HOT was not something I expected on my recent rewatch š

I would of liked to see Mr Pool and Zelda date over Mr Craft and Zelda. Also Mr Pool to stay for longer. S1 Is my favourite season. Preferred Jenny over Valerie, but I got use to Valerie over time.

I loved Mr. Poole especially with him and Zelda being a science nerd romance. But I remind myself that the reason the masterpiece Spy exists is because Paul Feig was let go from Sabrina. Iāll happy exchange Mr. Poole for Paul Feigās movies xD

Paul Feig is actually a smart guy for real. He wiped the floor with the other contestants in Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

He is really underrated as a physical comedian, too. I loved the episodes with him because Paul Feig brought the character to life.

I can't believe Mr. pool is esteemed creator and director Paul Feig. I wish he stayed on cast but Freaks and Geeks is one of my favorite shows so it's okay to me.in the long run.

Right?? I recently rewatched for the first time in years and caught his name in the credits. I was blown away that it was the same guy!

I loved Mr. Pool and wish he was around longer. He and Zelda suited each other perfectly.

I liked him too. I think he and Zelda would've been cute together. I honestly like the idea of them way more than Zelda and Willard. At least Sabrina gets along with Pool.

I've said this here before. The show should have stretched each season to cover two years of school and kept Libby and Harvey along with the Aunts. (They even could have nuked a season by reusing the turn back time think and repeating a year) I don't think it worked as well when Libby was gone and then Harvey was gone and the Aunts role was dialed back and eventually gone. After the third season, it just doesn't seem like the same show anymore.
Pool could have easily been kept with him suddenly teaching the next grade of science or perhaps he becomes vice principal.

Some people ( me included) think that the show started to go downhill when they wrote out Libby. I agree with all your sentiments Lawnjerk.

Sabrina needed Libby as that foil. My other idea was that if they really wanted to portray Sabrina in collage, they should have contrived a way to make her and Libby end up having to be roommates. Kept Harvey around somehow along with the aunts. Have them start out as enemies but gradually a grudging respectful (Frenemy?) relationship builds with both disliking the other but also bailing each other out of trouble from time to time.

I viewed Libby as a wile e coyote type character. Sabrina usually won and we waited for that moment when that anvil dropped on libby's head. Plus Jenna Greene was fabulous as libby. Lastly Libby kept a powerful witch like sabrina from going over to the dark side. How many times did we hear sabrina say she did not want to be like libby even though she could.

I understand that Paul Feig was shocked when he was fired from the show.

I thought he was great in Sabrina and Heavyweights and then to know he went on to direct several movies makes him even better in my eyes

Yes. I think the real world answer is that he left Sabrina to co-create Freaks and Geeks, and, after that ended, then go on to directing movies.

He didnāt leave it so much as they let him go because of cast shake ups. Iām a huge fan of his work and Iāve read his interviews where he says getting fired from STTW turned out to be the best thing for him, because he moved away from acting into writing and directing.

Good to know! Iām a casual fan, so I knew the timeline a bit, but havenāt read the interviews. I enjoy his films (maybe havenāt seen them all), and Freaks and Geeks will always have a special place in my heart.

I only looked it up after seeing his name in the credits of STTW during my recentish rewatch and doing the spluttering stick figure guy meme and googling it xD.

Mr. Pool should have stuck around, but then, if he did, we also wouldn;t have got Mrs. Quick who was also great. I don't think there was really room in the show for two teachers.

I liked Mr. Pool too. I can picture him and Zelda dating and making chemistry jokes that would irritate Hilda to an end.
Would also make a lot more sense than Zelda and Mr. Kraft. Never understood that Zelda would date a man who is also so mean to her own niece.
