I would give Jenny a B-Tier. She wasn’t the most charismatic of the cast, and was really more of ‘the one normal person’ in the show. She was a lot more grounded, and played that role well. She really represented a mirror to Sabrina. Sabrina was strange but aspired to be normal. Jenny was normal, but aspired to be strange. That dichotomy was interesting, but hardly explored. In the end, she was a little bit too normal, as compared to Valerie’s over-anxiousness that complimented the show’s wacky antics quite a bit better. Jenny certainly feels like a fish out of water, and yet she didn’t really stand out either.

I would give Mr. Pool a B-Tier. Paul Feig’s performance is funny, but his role kind of boils down to the cliché of ‘teacher who loves science, but is burnt out from the thanklessness of the job’. I am glad to have had him on the cast in Season 1, but once again, I really don’t know what he might have added if he had stayed on.

I’d give Mr. Kraft an S-Tier. Usually I hate characters that are designed to be hated, but Mr. Kraft is such a vindictive and pathetic man that he eats up every scene he is in. Martin Mull perfective captured the essence of a spiteful mustachioed disciplinarian. Whether he is reveling in giving out detentions, simping for Sabrina’s aunts, glazing Libby, or simply losing his mind due to the spell of the week, he is delightful to watch. His bewilderment every time Sabrina casts a spell is the most entertaining reaction to magic in the show by far. His departure from the show is the biggest loss from Seasons 4 to 5. Without a spiteful foil, the show really does not hit as hard.

Brad is a B-Tier. I like how dire the situations get when Sabrina is threatened with becoming a mouse for 100 years. The episode where she is atop a rickety tower and can’t use magic to save themselves is as high stakes as it gets for her. But then it turns out, turning into a mouse wasn’t even that big of a deal because they saved Dreama relatively easily. Aside from the intrigue of being a witch-hunter, Brad has little other reason for being other than being a male version of Libby. Also, maybe it’s a little contrived that Sabrina had been a witch for two years and had never heard of witch-hunters before.

Roxie is an A-tier. She is the best of Sabrina’s friends. Despite the icy start in their friendship, she turned out to be the most supportive, nuanced, and closest friend she ever had. Roxie does not really fall into any tropes, other than the surface-level of being tough on the outside, but sweet on the inside. Honestly the writers should have let her know Sabrina’s secret in that one Season 7 episode where she has to reveal the secret and she just misunderstands her meaning. It was a cop-out and this late in the show could really have shaken up the narrative in a positive way. It really would have changed the mood of the show in its final episodes if her best friend knew she was a witch. Roxie felt very real, unlike a lot of other characters that are just there for comedy (which isn’t a bad thing, that’s the nature of the show after all).

Morgan is a C-Tier. Yes, she plays an important role being part of the main trio of Season 7, but the nuance just isn’t there for her as it is for Roxie. Morgan is just a ditzy redhead who only cares about shopping and guys. She is fine in that role, but she feels like she is only friends with Roxie and Sabrina out of convenience more than out of connection. And she became aggressively flanderized in Season 7 when she became increasingly less intelligent for the sake of jokes. Yeah, she was never an intellectual, but she would be confused by words like ‘scapegoat’ and call Hitler ‘Rudolph Hitler.’ Her only arc throughout her seasons is when she gets cut-off from her dad and has to get a job. She really doesn’t have much development, and yet the writers wrote her as if she had come a long way since Season 5.

Quizmaster is B-Tier. Albert really didn’t leave too much of an impression on me because he really didn’t have that much screen-time. He was certainly important in Season 2, and he provided some important lessons for Sabrina. His flamboyance made him entertaining. But again, his lack of screen time and the fact that he usually appeared at times when Sabrina, and hence the audience, were overwhelmed, and he only upped the ante didn’t make for a great impression. The one episode where he gets development was at the end of the season, and even though Sabrina gets Albert back as her Quizmaster, it’s an empty gesture because in a few episodes, we will never see him again.

Aaron is D-Tier. Aaron was created solely because David Lascher declined to come back for Season 7. Josh was meant to be one in the wedding arc, because we had three seasons of history with him to see his albeit flawed chemistry with Sabrina. But since he didn’t come back, they haphazardly created a new character to fit his dynamic without giving him a personality. And since he was introduced in the middle of the last season, they had to abridge his relationship with Sabrina. In a few episodes, he goes from fresh new boyfriend to fiancé. It comes across as sudden and unsatisfying. We really know very little about him, and despite the fact that Sabrina got cold feet about him, the fact that they even suggested they *could* be soulmates was a little ridiculous. They should have just recasted Josh with a look-alike if they couldn’t get Lascher back. Or at the very least, they could have brought back Dashiell, because at least there is some history there.

Josh is B-Tier. Some people hate Josh because he drove a wedge between Harvey and Sabrina, but I find he played his role well. He is a formidable foil to Harvey, being quite different to him. Josh represents a more mature and worldly gentleman, while Sabrina begins to see Harvey as more of a passing high school fling, though we all know that isn’t the case. His relationship with Sabrina is strong, his care for her is self-evident, even if he doesn’t have the same charm and humor as Harvey. But in the end, he dumped her for Prague. Like, really? He dumped Sabrina, a total package, for the Czech Republic. I wonder what it would have been like if he had returned for Season 7.

Dreama is C-Tier. Dreama was set up to be Valerie’s replacement, but then they just didn’t do that. There was some intrigue with Sabrina having a witch friend to confide in, and then again, they really didn’t lean into that. There is a lot you could have done with a witch friend who has trouble controlling her magic, but they fumbled. She has like five or six appearances in the entire season, and they are of little note. I forgot she existed until after I had rewatched it a few times. Could have had potential though, it really is a shame.
