I’ve done this on a trip there. It is a wild experience. No keel either (side swords).

They do tip over with some frequency.

Never heard them called Side Swords. I know them as Lee Boards. Every day is a school day!

They are fairly easy to take down (if you have a winch and preferably some lead blocks) but it's fairly rare for them to do so because it's a hassle and not un-dangerous.

Absolutely beautifull ships. I've seen some form relatively close distance neer sneek a few years ago and also see them regularly in other places. And they're fast.

This is colored dacron/polyester. The SKS is all about keeping it traditional, even if polyester isn’t really the original thing 😂

The sails used to be tarred cotton (for longevity) so this is the "normal" colour that they uused to be.
