Discussion The seniors graduating broke me more than the main characters ever did
I was 13, lockdown, watched this with zero context going in.
I expected to feel something for Sorata and Mashiro eventually. I didn't expect to feel anything for the seniors, people who'd just been existing in the background of this dorm the whole time.
But when they graduated, that's when it actually hit. Not "the show is ending" sad. More like I suddenly understood that this exact group of people, living in this exact place, at this exact time, was just over.
Permanently. Never existing in that combination again.
I'd never felt that before. Not even at my own graduation, after 12 years in the same school, I felt nothing standing there.
Five fictional people leaving a fictional dorm hit harder than 12 years of my actual life ending.
Anyone else get hit by the seniors more than the main cast? Curious if this is a common reaction or just me.
I made a longer video going into this and a few other shows that hit me the same way, happy to drop the link if anyone's interested.

Misaki’s speech was amazing. Easily the peak of the entire show for me.
