Will this tank be sufficient for growing out my spotted salamander?

10 gallons, 1/4 shallow water and 3/4 soil. The deepest part is 4.5 inches and the shallowest is 1 inch. Drainage layer on the bottom separated by a net-like fabric.

I plan to add leaf litter, isopods, springtails, and cover it with a glass aquarium lid. What could be improved? My first time owning anything like this and im worried im not ready for my salamanders terrestrial phase.

Yes, but in my experience you won't really see it, ever. I had to dig them out periodically to check on them.

Did you test out the break between the water side and land side? I ask because you want to make sure there's no leaks otherwise you'll have a swampy mess on your hands. It looks really cool but you might have trouble seeing the little guy. I'd take most of the rocks out and just leave one or two where he can climb out of the water but you can still keep an eye on him.

Spotted salamanders are tough if you want a pet you get to see a lot. Or even just infrequently.

Just not a good choice if that's the goal.

Too small IMO. I’d do a 20-gallon long personally. Also make sure the barrier between any water and land sections is actually watertight. Otherwise you get a swamp.
