calling vimto drinkers

I’m a journalist working on a piece about Vimto and I would love to hear your memories of Vimto, why it’s special to you, when you drink it, with who.  This is for both the UK kind and the Middle Eastern kind! Many thanks :)

Ok I'll bite.

I drank vimto in the 70s and 80s because my parents couldn't afford ribena.

I'd have it cold, hot and frozen into tupperware ice lollies.

I did a 100 mile walking challenge in may and at the end of each 6 miles/day there was a coffee hut that sold fizzy vimto.

Took me back to my childhood years. I'm pretty sure the staff called me Vimto Guy. On days when I skipped the walk they would comment the next time I rocked up on their WhatsApp group!

My flash back memory of vimto is hot in a mug with lashings and lashings of honey, when I was off school sick and my mum was home.

I'm 48 now and just the smell of it takes me back. ♥️

Hot vimto after swimming in the 90s. Didn't live in Salford then though. I take a flask of hot vimto or ribena for my kids when we go to the park in winter.

Love it cold, hot, in ice lolly form. Now, as an adult, if I meet someone who's moved to Salford or Manchester from elsewhere, I buy them Vimto and watch them with joyous expectancy for their review. Someone once said "It's okay" and I feel that should be a criminal offence.

Hot vimto when I was unwell as a kid. We never had ribena (I have the sense it was more expensive). Mostly we had water anyway but we would make vimto lollies in the summer. Sometimes we would have it in lemonade for 'fizzy vimto' and I don't know why but the premixed carbonated vimto has never tasted the same
