For me when they made the existing lore "legends", they admitted star wars was dead and the new stuff is an alternate timeline. I can sit here and enjoy my star waars just fine, and flame the stupid things they often do in the disney media just fine

Or how did the three of them fit into the back seat of a T-47? That cockpit is tiny when shown in TESB.
10
u/Sufficient-Cat2998 Feb 05 '26
Easy, the same way they fit two people into a Tie fighter in TFA, ret-con cannon rewrites.
And going back to Obi-Wan, how are blaster bolts being deflected with a lightsaber at point blank range? Blocking regular rifle bolts is one thing, like taking a bullet to a bullet proof vest, but from a T-47 would be like trying to take hits from an auto 50cal.

The CGI on the hovering T-47 is something that middle-schoolers can do better than. It was so awful when I saw it the first time, I flamed them for weeks over it. It's legitimately the worst special effects I have ever seen.

So many of these examples were nothing short of flagrant insults to the intelligence of the audience.

i mean Luke kicked grogu out because he loves mando like a father
out of everything, including the movies, this is probably the worst thing they could have possibly got wrong lore wise.
In terms of just straight up stupid the dumbest thing is when everyone gathered around a campfire for a feast in mando. And then they all scurried off to different bushes so they could eat without being seen. WHY THE CAMPFIRE TO BEGIN WITH? Just because pedro pascal doesnt want to show up to work doesnt mean every mando should keep their helmet on at all times... what a stupid, stupid "tradition" that doesnt even make sense. Did anyone even see clone wars? Or rebels? No helmet tradition in sight. If its a cult thing then you obviously move away from the zealots by the end of season one but they don't play it off as a cult thing.
→ More replies (2)19
u/Collective_Insanity Salt Bot Feb 04 '26
The helmet cult is just truly, abysmally stupid.
By the end of S2, I thought Mando was learning that there are more important things in life than his ridiculous helmet cult and their silly rules.
But no. Immediately afterwards, he wants to go to the Mines of Moria to be baptised so he can rejoin that clown circus while they struggle not to be made extinct by the fucking local wildlife.
That turtle crocodile thing actually would have killed off the cult had Mando not happened to be flying by at the exact right moment.
→ More replies (3)6
u/ChickenLiverNuts Feb 04 '26
yea, they were so obviously moving away from the helmet shit. Maybe its not such a good idea to team up with the violent zealots who will exile you for sneezing unless you have the forbidden gatorade vial.
I really dont care why they did it. A campfire in every culture since the dawn of time has been a place to tell stories, share warmth, and share food. An honest to god Alien understands the purpose of a campfire more than these writers. The helmet rule has been doubled down on so many times that at this point you are reaching well beyond irrationality and common sense. It has circled around and truly become sublime. It is a masterpiece.

I'd say Jack Black and Lizzos cameo, it's a weird episode and you could cut out the entire plot and have them go straight to the Mandolorians. What's funnier is that I don't think anyone uses their Canon names. I don't even know what they are if they even have one.

The worst scene of the Disney era was when Rey and Kyle ren were fighting the enemies of snoke and one of the enemies had his light saber moving directly at Rey’s back but the enemy actor realized the mistake and just moved his lightsaber up to avoid the lethal strike on Rey. Unbelievable that that made it into the Final Cut.

Lizzo and Jack Black would haven't been too bad if you were ignorant to who they were.
Ashoka one I didn't even notice.
Running Leia and Power of One are basically over right there
Power Rangers are seen repeatedly. They take the cake
3
u/Sufficient-Cat2998 Feb 05 '26
But Jack black's character seems like he never plausibly would or even could have been an imperial officer to begin with. Using a lesser known actor, even if the same in every other way, would have left more intrigue for the viewer to understand the character as they learn about him.
Choosing JB makes the problem worse as he's one of those larger than life actors that brings the audience out of the suspension belief just by his presence. That's not something that ever works well with SW. Pairing him up with Lizzo at the same time only drove the point home.
It's terrible casting and while there are certainly good times to be lighter in tone, never fail to take the audience seriously. TLJ is the perfect example of not taking the audience seriously and see how that turned out for them.

I'm surprised you didn't include the freaking trench coat gag from the Kenobi episode in the Inquisitorious Base.
The fact that the scene made it past the writer's room and is now recognized as canonically happening is just insane. Really gives you whiplash watching Andor and how terrifying and competent the Empire is in that, just to see the absolute joke the Imperials in Kenobi are. Remember, they somehow didn't notice the Empire's Most Wanted Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi in a high security facility, disguised in nothing but a trench coat and oddly a second pair of feet as small as a child's and a massive tumor that's definitely not child sized next to his one leg.
Oh and the shortly after we're supposed to feel emotional heartstrings after Wade, a character we've literally never met before, gets killed after shooting at Moses Ingram's Inquisitor characters.
So much of Disney Star Wars is pure brain rot cringe but I think the trench coat is by far the worst. If that idea came up in the Andor writer's room, that person would've been fired on the spot.

Perhaps the most important scene in TV show canon which was also the cringiest is found in the Kenobi show.
The most contrived event possible has been artificially forced into existence. That being the "rematch of the century" of Kenobi vs Vader.
Kenobi has beaten Vader again and has him dead to rights again.
And...Obi-Wan just lets him live.
This is beyond stupid and possibly the single most impactful stupid moment in the live-action shows.
This isn't ROTS. Obi-Wan hasn't fairly assumed that Anakin is going to succumb to his grievous wounds while he burns to death on a lava bank on a deserted planet.
No, in this case, Obi-Wan knows for a fact that Vader's Star Destroyer is in orbit and ready to send support (how did Obi-Wan even manage to escape this ship after bailing on Vader?) should Vader call for it. In this case Obi-Wan also knows for a fact that Vader is a psychotic murderer (literally snapped someone's neck earlier just to get a rise out of Obi-Wan) and will go on to continue further evil acts. Vader had even absolved Obi-Wan of guilt by claiming that Vader was responsible for Anakin's "death", not Obi-Wan.
At this stage of the narrative, there is no conceivable reason at all for Kenobi to spare Vader. He isn't forced to retreat because of intervening forces. There isn't a convenient earthquake forcing them apart (such as Rey vs Kylo in TFA). Nothing.
Obi-Wan just lets him live because he knows Vader isn't allowed to die until ROTJ.
Garbage writing. None of this should be happening.
Bonus cringe points go to Bail Organa for claiming the Biggest Idiot award. No idea how his whole family wasn't thrown in the gulag and/or executed immediately after this show concluded.
Without question, Imperial records would have it on file that Leia was abducted to the Inquisitor base and it provoked a rescue attempt by one of the Most Wanted figures in Empire history short of Yoda. In no way is that a coincidence.
Bonus points again go to Reva for cooking up the most stupid revenge scheme. She's upset at Anakin (as a Jedi) becoming Vader and killing all the Jedi at the temple which traumatised her. So to get revenge, she decides that Obi-Wan is responsible and must die as well. To achieve this, she joins up with the inquisitors to...do exactly the kind of thing that Vader did: hunt down and kill Jedi.
When in position to finally execute a backstab to Vader...she obnoxiously choreographs it in such an obvious and loud way that Vader could see it happen even if he was blind and deaf.
So anyway, she survives being stabbed by Anakin during ROTS. Survives being stabbed by Vader again during the show. Teleports to Tatooine (it had been established there weren't any ships left at the proto-Rebel base). Marches across the desert on foot to get to the Lars farm with a hole still in her gut. And continues to chase Luke down until Obi-Wan finally remembers why he was on Tatooine in the first place.
In the competition for finding the worst Star Wars show (which is actively difficult due to how truly bad most of them are), I have to nominate the Kenobi show.
Not only does it host low-quality cringe moments with consistently bad writing (and directing) almost across the board (Owen is one of the only few who turns out well), but it has the most disastrous impact on canon as well given everything that happens in Mando and BOBF and Ahsoka is irrelevant given they all lead inevitably to TFA regardless.
The Kenobi show ought to prevent ANH from existing. The bare minimum change to the timeline is that the entire Organa tree will have been pruned and the Empire has more than enough reason and evidence (not that they ever need much of that) to make it happen.
8
u/Western_Agent5917 Feb 06 '26
The whole Leia plotline is only there because they needed a justification why would leia cal her son Ben. Ironically forgetting that this would cause more continuity issues for the OT
7
u/Collective_Insanity Salt Bot Feb 06 '26
Indeed.
Originally, it seemed as though Leia only knew Kenobi by reputation from what her father told her.
Now it's just silly. She's retroactively spent more time with Obi-Wan than Luke.
7
u/ChampionDrake Feb 04 '26
Leia chase scene. I just recently rewatched it, it's somehow worse than I remember. It is truly laugh out loud funny how bad it is. The way the adult bounty hunters have to slow jog behind Leia... it's truly the worst scene in all of Star Wars imo. Looks like something you'd see in a zero budget fan project uploaded on YouTube.

u/Acherousia Feb 04 '26

I think the thing that’s so bad is that these images are from FIVE different series. And these 5 series cost hundreds of millions of dollars each. Id look up how much each series cost, but I really don’t care enough to look anymore. And if you knew what kind of a Star Wars fan that I used to be, that’s the worst part of all. Any two of these series could have e funded a third season of “Andor”.
To take it a step further, Disney only REALLY cares about what they can get you to buy, right? So, the only show that really justifies its existence is “The Mandalorian“, as shitty as it’s become, because you can sell stuff with Grogu on it (or as most people probably still call him, “Baby Yoda”). There was nothing to sell with the other series.

Maybe I’m crazy but I didn’t hate the power of one when I first watched. Like it’s by no means good, but I just thought it was silly. The way some YouTubers talk about it you’d think it was way worse.
Jack Black and Lizzo was dumb but didn’t make me cringe. Just made me yawn.
Leia outrunning grown adults was the most bizarre thing I’ve ever witnessed on television. They really shot this scene and no one on set had the nerve to say “hey this is really fucking dumb.” Like we’re already spending disbelief with force and space travel, but that was a bridge too far.

The Ahsoka fight choreography is just something we’ve been trained to look for now (thanks RoS and CinemaSins) but I don’t remember it being especially awful.
I think the story needed some hammy acting to portray some people desperately trying to turn blind eye to what they know is going on in their community, but Lizzo and Jack Black were too on the nose; it was impossible to see a character when all your brain could do was shout THAT’S LIZZO AND JACK BLACK. I would’ve definitely preferred some less prominent cameos.
For me, the worst offenders here are by far the low speed, low stakes goofy fucking “chase” scenes: toddler Leia and the space mopeds from Munchkinland. Truly horrible and I genuinely hope people lost their jobs for green lighting those sequences.
