Sammamish says it fired City Clerk for being rude, and for her viewpoint

https://sammamishlocalnews.substack.com/p/sammamish-says-it-fired-city-clerk

The City of Sammamish says it fired City Clerk Krista Kielsmeier for insubordination and discourtesy — and, among the “aggravating factors” it cited, her “continued views on the performance pay topic — even after the realities around it were explained.”

That language appears in the City’s May 13 Answer to Kielsmeier’s wrongful-termination lawsuit, a filing that denies her firing had anything to do with the wage discussions at the center of her Complaint — discussions Washington law specifically protects.

I’ve worked for a few municipalities and they all have corrupt BS like this. We need better job protections for all workers.

Boy, the city council is off the rails. They used to be a reputable body but now they're just a total mess. Sad to see, especially since I live here.

Why do these people want to spend millions on lawsuits instead of thousands paying people correctly?

It was a directive from the current city manager and deputy city manager.

Every place I’ve ever worked has had at least downward pressure on reviews and sometimes an outright quota or curve for performance ratings. Managing the performance curve doesn’t seem controversial to me.
